Wash: Don't fall asleep now. Sleepiness is weakness of character. Ask anyone. You're acting captain. Know what happens you fall asleep now? Zoe: Jayne slits my throat, and takes over. Wash: That's right. Zoe: And we can't stop it.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I really like the idea of a Buffista Fund for Impulsive Gestures. I mean, right now I'm sitting on many months' worth of server fees, thanks to generous Buffistas (have I mentioned how much y'all rock? And I'm especially looking at a couple of you lurkers), so people with extra cash on hand today could throw it in the BFIG instead. But I'm not going to coordinate it.

I... kinda think this would be asking for trouble. I mean, we're talking about a fund to do nice things for Buffistas, right? Which is lovely, don't get me wrong, but it just seems like the possibility for upset and how-do-you-choose and who chooses what impulsive gestures to make... it feels to me like instituting a kind of formal financial award for being a Favorite Buffista As Defined By The Holder Of The Money. You know?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

The way we've done impulsive gestures in the past has generally been someone coming up with an idea, then quietly circulating and organizing it backchannel. I kind of prefer that, because we're not handing out anything in an Official Board Capacity; it's just people surprising their friends with cool stuff.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I agree with Holli.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I agree with Holli, too.

I'm good with any Nilly overage going to Tim's charity of choice.

The problem with this is that not everyone finds out about it backchannel. I think I've heard of only one of the impulsive gesture type things beforehand. When I do hear about them after the fact, I wish I would have had a chance to contribute.

I have to agree with this.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

Let me split the question.

  • Does b.org want to be listed as the recipient of ad proceeds on the wiki?

  • Governance of that income.

The first bullet is of more interest to me than the second. Actually, I should stay completely out the second.

Thanks for all the fish.

What is the wiki?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I agree with Holli, too. If you want to put ads on your wiki and want to donate them to something b.org related, I think it should go towards server costs (despite what Jesse said, money will run out eventually).

Does anyone else's brain start playing "Jam On It" every time Gus mentions the wiki?
