This board isn't a game show board.
It's not an OC board, either. Nor a Smallville one, nor a Survivor one, nor many other shows which we take steps to prevent spoiling people about.
I can totally see jengod running around and spoiling it -- it's like Tim spoiling us about Angel.
But I don't see why it's that laughable an idea for someone to not want to know the outcome of a competition before they watch it.
ita, honestly, if there is ever anything I can do for you just let me know. You're the best.

Why are you categorizing it as if it is laughable, ita? To me, that exacerbates the situation. Did anyone say it was laughable? The only place I laughed was where someone rude enough to tag others "incredibly rude" for expressing their opinions, was doling out the manners lessons in the first place. Yes, I realize the irony.
Can we review what really happened here, before this goes any further? Please?
I didn't want it to turn into a big thing, expressed that, and Teppy agreed. For that, we were called incredibly rude, and accused of ridicule (his categorization).
Oh no, please let's not. She gets to tell us. This isn't a drama series with a plot and an arc; it's a game show.
or
Wrod. Give me a break.
When exactly did that become ridicule? How was that able to induce "utter bewilderment"? For that matter, when did snarky pleading become "incredibly rude" at b.org?
I happen to believe that jengod's experience trumps his complaint, and should, given the type of show, the level of spoilage, and the fact that it's her real life, versus 22 minutes of suspense worked up during a quiz show. From your, "I can totally see jengod running around and spoiling it -- it's like Tim spoiling us about Angel," it sounds like you do, too.
So what exactly was laughable?
(Tim spoils us about Angel? I seriously don't remember that. Whenever we've asked him to reveal stuff, he gives Minear-esque oblique replies? Or am I really forgetting something?)
(This isn't that important of a question; I'm just wondering if I forgot something.)
He talked about filming eps with Eliza Dushku.
I totally don't remember that. But my memory is really bad, so I was just curious. That's why I asked.
I don't recall it either, though I may have just passed the relevant posts by without notice, having been (happily) spoiled weeks before by Dave Simkins' loose lips.
Let me remove laughable, since that's conflating the reaction to his tone with the reaction to his content.
The tone didn't bother me at all -- however, the brushing off of the content suprised me, given the diligence taken to whitefont Survivor, etc.
It's not a new and culture changing idea, yet brushed off so summarily.
In my world, Saying "oh please" or "give me a break" could easily be interpreted as ridicule. It all depends on the tone of voice, which is of course lost in written posts.
Also this:
Of course, this is still a much larger number than 21 or 25 (out of 22 or 26), so the justification for your rudeness is still secure.
I thought was Robert saying he agreed with you, and he was backing down a bit.

And so wouldn't it be nice to ask for clarification, rather than go off on a tirade about a 3 sentence post? I don't even think I meant the "oh please" to rise to the level of "give me a break." It was whining pleading to avoid this sort of discussion. Obviously, that's a futile request. Ridicule never crossed my mind.

That was to Teppy, so I can't speak for her, but when I see someone write "justification for your rudeness," it seems way more like a passive aggressive dig than it sounds like backing down.

If he'd made a to white font it, or discuss spoiler font, don't you think it would be different? To tell you my opinion (which I'm not sure I would have offered, because I don't post about the reality game shows--TAR, Survivor, any of them) -- things like TAR, Survivor, etc., have a plot and a continuing plotline and seem to warrant spoiler font. jengod's Jeopardy appearance is a whole different animal. I respect that Robert likes the suspense. To me, jengod's right to share her experience (true for me, for any Buffista who gets on a quiz show) trumps that. I respect that people disagree. I don't respect the slander campaign that came along with it.
Somehow, it's worse to say, please let's not get into this, she has a right to post about her experience, than it is to call people incredibly rude and then accuse them of ridiculing? That's nice to know. (Yes, that was meant to sound bitchy and sarcastic. I can't believe the URL in my address bar, right now.)
