Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I recall it as coming under "not broadcast = spoiler"

But that can be taken to a ridiculous extreme. If there's no promo run, does that mean we can't announce that there's a rerun the following week? Or does that ruin the fun as well? I'm not trying to be snotty. I'm just pointing out that "not broadcast" is too vague a term.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Katie, apart from Soulless (which, after Fredless would just make me wonder if they're playing with me) I don't see how any of those titles are giving any information.

Hell, I still don't know why they called Orpheus Orpheus.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Hell, I still don't know why they called Orpheus Orpheus.

Slouching Toward Bethlehem *still* confuses me as a title. (I know the derivation; I just don't think the episode/arc/season lived up to the allusion.)

And they sure as hell didn't go to Bethlehem, which really disappointed me....

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Orpheus was the name of the drug faith took and Angelus sucked out of her.

t edit not exactly spoilery.

t re-edit and what Dana said.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hell, I still don't know why they called Orpheus Orpheus.

OT: I'd guess it was the metaphor of leading someone out of hell, like Orpheus did with Euridyce.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hell, I still don't know why they called Orpheus Orpheus.

Orpheus was the name of the drug. (Presumably named because it causes people who take it to descend into the metaphorical underworld of their own mind.)

[massive x-post, natch]

Art Crawl!!!

I've assumed that once the named show has been broadcast there is no way that the title can be spoilery.

We could, of course, do what most tv watchers do and talk about "the show where the MoG think that Angelus killed Lilah and Wes breaks Faith out of prison" rather than say, "Salvage".

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Nah, none of them give specific information, I agree. (Not like, say, "Invisible Girl.") They allow the brain to put things together and make more-accurate guesses about what's going to happen, though. You can see where the vibe of the titles changes, and guess from that where the Angelus mini-arc's going to end.

(God, I can see the "she's insane!" head-shaking from here. I understand that the vast majority of people here don't care. I personally don't even care, as it happens. Just trying to explain how a title can give information that might be unwanted.)

Thrive to spite them

I'm one of those people who can't remember episode titles. The only reasons I even know certain Buffy episode names is y'all keep mentioning and even then I'm not always sure if what I'm remembering goes with the title I'm thinking about.

For me they are just "the one with the gambling---for Gunn's soul. Not the rescue Lorne vegas one." or "the one where Kennedy is annoying..."

All is well that ends in pizza.

Angel 5.2 is rumored to be entitled either "Spiked" or "Just Rewards"

IJS, if it's the former? Semi-spoilery to some, not to others.
