Except "Hello, Xander One-Eye." That gave a little something away....
I've never been at a board where they were treated as spoilers before this one. At another board, on which our UK posters might make up about 1/3 of the active posters (maybe more), which is linear, we use the episode titles to label the spoilers (which are then in spoiler font).
But, since someone is bound not to remember that a title like "Hello, Xander One-Eye" gives away the plot, it seems like whiting out or not putting the titles in the NAFDA thread is probably the safest treatment for titles. I don't understand it 99 out of 100 times, but I can understand it that one time out of the 100, like with Dad and Lullabye. We can always use season/episode number to refer to an ep ahead of time.
Trudy, would it take away from your enjoyment if people were able to openly discuss the name of a given episode writer?
Yep. Different writers are known for different things. I'd rather be surprised.
And I sorta don't care what other boards do. This one has always not had them or at least white fonted.
What I labled "bitching" was complaining about even having to vote about something which was a) settled some time ago and b) in favor of the complainer
Trudy, Michelle was saying that considering the issue of the BCS had to be voted on despite it's apparent public knowledge, it's unlikely that spoilerphobes would be comfortable with whitefonting Spoilage Lite topics, so the SL people are still somewhat S.O.L. At least that's the way I understood the post you took issue with:
And given that we had to have a VOTE to mention the Big Casting Spoiler on Angel in the Angel thread, even in whitefont, despite the fact that the WB was already doing *publicity* for it, suggests that whitefont discussion of Spoilage Lite topics won't play well during the season either.
Am I misreading this?
but I can understand it that one time out of the 100, like with Dad and Lullabye.
What did those give away? (I mean, Angel was already a dad when Dad aired, and I'm totally stumped on Lullabye.)
Yep. Different writers are known for different things. I'd rather be surprised.
I just don't get it. I understand now why people posted only in Spoilers and not in the show threads last season.
This one has always not had them or at least white fonted.
Really? I thought that was a relatively recent development -- a cautiousness that became ingrained.
And I sorta don't care what other boards do. This one has always not had them or at least white fonted.
Trudy, I was using that statement to acknowledge that although I understand why some people want to talk about episode titles, that I was still going to support you in your quest to keep episode titles forbidden 'til the episode airs.
Sorry you don't like my writing style. Now I'll give you my opinion. I think your attitude here is counterproductive to getting/keeping what you want, because you just lost one supporter. I was supporting you, because it was you, not because I think it's a reasonable request. In fact, I think it is a ridiculous request.
I'm done supporting it.
Look, sometimes titles we get aren't the final title -- the earlier titles may turn out to be more spoilery than we may want. Also, The Body might not have been spoilery say in December or January -- but I bet it was when people got the episode title in February or March. (When did it air again?)
I recall it as coming under "not broadcast = spoiler"
That's what it was -- and writers and episode titles aren't broadcast.
