I'm afraid I don't understand the "IKEA" reference. Would somebody summarize or Nilly the discussion for me? Thanks.
Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Yeah, for the record, I don't like thread titles that are incomprehensible to the casual reader. An in-joke in the subtitle is a little better, but it ought to be clear to all what the thread is about.
I'm really not happy with the vote to combine SV/DS/FS. I'd like to say that up front. Slash is a big part of what is discussed in both SV and DS threads and now that doesn't even get a mention in the slug because of Farscape.
I've forgotten--or never knew--the Ikea referrence, too.
Ikea thread, from Kat "Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!" Aug 20, 2003 10:08:04 am PDT:
Fannish TV as a name takes me right to Ikea. It goes like this in my brain:
Fannish TV. Finnish TV. Finns are near Swedes. Swedish TV. Swedish Furniture. IKEA!
Well, I'm not a slash fan--I don't hate it, but I don't auto-slash every two men I see, either--and I'm less than happy with the Fic/PPO/Anthology combo and Farscape being lumped with the two slashy show threads. But in the interest of decreasing usage and preserving the board, I'll either learn to Nilly or not read those threads.

askye speaks for me on this.
Thanks, Nilly.
Does anyone really think a thread title like PPO was easily comprehensible to the average reader? Come on, ya'll. We've always had our in-jokes.
Except someone else said that.

On the other hand, we're trying to keep the combo thread low profile and specific so it doesn't mutate into a general TV thread.
