You know, I seriously never noticed that. I keep looking at the page info at the top of my browser to make sure I am posting in the thread I intend to.

Well, you're not alone, because I never thought, "Hey, just look at the browser title bar; that way you don't have to scroll up to find out where you are." So, cool, thanks for a scroll-free way to check my environs pre-post message button. So that's my D'oh moment for today. Or, one of them, anyway.

Also -- I learned much about unhealthy board practices reading Light Bulbs and the posts here prior to the housecleaning vote. For what it's worth, and if it doesn't exist in FAQ already, I think a blurb about all the refresh settings, read new, number of posts per screen, etc. stuff that would help contribute to board health could be useful.

Oh hell, I'll just go ahead and admit that I was asking myself, "Where is this message center of which they speak?" And then I cobbled together that if you subscribe to threads you frequent, you get the message center, and, well, isn't that just freakin' handy, and don't I wish I'd figured that out before. (And, all that handy info. could very well be posted somewhere -- I just didn't see it, though I'm pretty sure I read the whole FAQ. But it was a long time ago and may not have struck me at the time). Because before that, I was thinking, "Read New?" But I don't want to read 5,000 movie posts ... Yeah, yeah. Duh.

So, I'm saying that I'm with the folks who suggested putting that all together and posting it where non-board health savvy (or optimum functionality) peeps in my boat would have to trip over it often. Or, bad metaphor because, tripping in boats? Probably not so much good.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

And, all that handy info. could very well be posted somewhere -- I just didn't see it, though I'm pretty sure I read the whole FAQ.

It's here.

Jess -- thanks, yeah, I did actually read that. For whatever reason, I didn't glom onto what subscribing to the threads would mean (I think I had visions of e-mail updates or something) and that the message center appears only once you subscribe, etc., and I never went back and played around with it until this latest discussion. I just figured, well, I'll look only at the threads I want to, and I'll just hit refresh every time I want to see if there are new messages ... which could sometimes mean many refreshes in a short time frame.

I definitely didn't know that setting my page to a higher number (was at 15, is now at 75) was a good thing to do. Well, and obvioulsy the auto refresh in the message center wasn't an issue for me until, uh, yesterday, when I discovered it.

Someone had written a list of suggestions several posts up, and I thought the list form and content were helpful -- might be to others who would shy away from anything with the title "Bureaucracy." Or, dare I say, might only skim the FAQ. As for me, I'm content in my new found knowledge of the world of the board. Aaaand ... off to hit "read new" in the message center now. Because I can.

Our wings are not tired.

A total of 123 ballots were cast. Question number 7 may be the first time in recorded history that all Buffistas have been in agreement with each other.

Great job all. I think we are also all in agreement that those of you that put this lengthy ballot together rock!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Thanks so much for counting DX!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Okay, I have carried out the will of the collective for questions 1, 3, 7, 10, and 11, i.e., I have closed Buffista Corp, The Quotable Firefly, Spoilage Lite: Buffy, F2F Planning, and Spoilage Lite: Angel.

Question 2 isn't to be implemented until after the death matches are done.

Questions 5 and 8 are the repurposing of Previously and Spoilers as Angel threads. Do we want to close the old thread, and start a new thread for each to reflect this?

Questions 6 and 9 involve the consolidation of multiple threads, and threads titles and such still have to be worked out.

Nobody

Heh - that was my thought verbatim, as I read the total. I'm tempted to COMM that item.

(and damn that "read new" I posted that in Press at first - yes, I know, the thread name is all over the place: above the posting box, at the top of the browswer window - I need to pay attention)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

My opinion:

  • No need to close and reopen a new Spoilers, since it's always been Angel inclusive and I assume that there are already lots of discussions about Angel going on there already.

  • we should probably close Previously and open a new "Previously on Angel" since that's more of a shift in purpose, but I could go either way.

Our wings are not tired.

A slug change for the Previously seems enough in my opinion. Same with Spoilers.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I think you only change the slug in Spoilers and start a whole nother thread for Previously. Mostly because of archiving. Otherwise it would look like there was never a Previously Buffy thread.
