*cries*
Aw Kristen, don't cry. We're all using read new. We've reset our refreshes to zero. I have my profile set to load 50 posts at a time. I'm going to change it to 75, now. We'll be all right. Any feed back on how much turning off the RQG helped us?
Or, to summarize Cindy's post
If you keep concising me up, you're going to have to get me flowers or candy or summat. :)
Aw Kristen, don't cry.
Actually, I am crying tears of joy right now.
For the reason why, y'all might want to wander over to Board.
Hey ita, is the change in refresh rate supposed to have gone through? It now says that the lower limit is 10 minutes, but the little number in the box is still 5, and I'm still refreshing after 5. (I'll change it manually if necessary, but I'm going to leave it alone for now.)
Katie, your session needs to be expired and restarted for the change to take effect. So you may not see it until after a period of inactivity, or after you change anything in your profile manually.
When our Kristen cries
Let her know the board won't die-ie
Cause when our Kristen snarks
She's a candle in the dar-ark...
I remember making a suggestion a few of months ago to have the Buffy quotes available like the BROQ, so that people can go sit at that generator and amuse themselves.
This was countered by people telling me "Why not sit at the message center and simply keep hitting 'refresh?'"
This may have been not-so-good advice in retrospect, and part of our hits issue. I know at least one person who actually did this. ...a lot.
Perhaps we could revisit the idea for those who just want the joy of reading buffy quotes at random. Maybe even adding a second button to the BROQ?
I would be averse to having birthday posts in Beep Me. Generally speaking, I am also okay if we informally limit ourselves to dark announcements of over a week or so. (Though I know I'm an offender too, in this respect.) It's a nice thing, because if we're frequently around, it's a good way for people to know we've not fallen off the earth or anything, but it's also something we could do on a smaller scale, letting the people we're closest to know, so if folks ask, they could pipe up.
I like Beep Me because it allows me to keep up on the major events in people's lives, even when I'm not in full natter mode.

Yeah, I never really understood the need to mention you'd be gone for the weekend.
Sometimes, I look at Beep Me and think I'll write:
"Monday, August 25, 2003. I just swallowed a piece of gum."
