I think we agreed that the grandfather clause card can't be used unless a cite/link to the discussion/consensus is provided. Or maybe I'm just making that up.

No, you're not making that up, Wolf.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I think brenda's right about a general tv thread fitting under the grandfather clause. But since it's a moot point right now, I think it doesn't warrant too much debate at the moment.

I agree, but again, the TV proposal only became moot, because we were asked to stop to address a fund-raising issue, which now may not exist.

So - again, I ask - please - if someone wants to challenge an eventual TV thread proposal using grandfather, dig up Betsy's wording on how to challenge, and then dig up your cites where we consensed-out-of-commission a TV thread, and do so pre-emptively, so we don't have a bunch of people already invested in formulating the ballot. It'll make life easier for all of us.

Just to clarify - it was a technical issue and it still exists.

Yes, sorry, there is also a technical issue. But I think Raquel stopped, based on Allyson's plea for us to stop and fundraise. I don't think the proposal died forever. I think it died until we know if we can have a new thread or not (technically - and what that'll entail financially) - and so if someone wants to stop it because of the grandfather clause, they should do it now, and put us out of our misery now.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

But I think Raquel stopped, based on Allyson's plea for us to stop and fundraise.

My plea was to stop until we knew more about board health, and fundraising was about a doomsday scenario, in case board health reached a critical level that meant moving to a dedicated server.

We shouldn't be discussing thread expansion until we know where we're at now, where we will be at the start of the new teevee season.

What we should be talking about is tightening up what we have already, which seems to be moving along, now, anyway.

Adding to the house of cards now seems a bad idea, since we can't see the foundation, yet.

I think the problem is that one obvious way to tighten is combining the low-volume TV threads, but doing that might lead to a general TV thread that might attract more posts and more board instability. Kind of Catch-22y.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

IF we decide that the board can technically support a new thread, we can avoid all talk of the grandpappy clause by including in the proposal that the TV thread wouldn't open until Sept. 20. Many shows don't start until around that date and it would save us all a lot of headaches.

I'm still sticking with my plea that we not even discuss a new thread until after Angel's season premiere.
