Can't we just shut Angel & Firefly NAFDA quotables and change the title of the Buffy thread to "Quotable ME"?

Good point.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Aren't we going to combine the NAFDA quotables threads? And if so, why does this have to wait 'til after the death matches? Can't we just shut Angel & Firefly NAFDA quotables and change the title of the Buffy thread to "Quotable ME"?

Silly, non-logical personal preference: I'm charmed by the idea of closing Buffy Quotables on the One True Quote. So I'd rather close all three and open a new one. I'm not invested, though.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'd be in favor of closing Buffy 4: Grr Argh and starting a new Buffy 5 to begin it anew once Buffy reruns finish on UPN.

Perhaps naming it something forward looking...

Buffy 5: Post Apocolypti
Buffy 5: Is that it? That can't be it!
Buffy 5: Next stop? Cleveland.
Buffy 5: Blackout? Hellmouth. IJS.

I'm sure we could come up with more....

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm in favor of a Buffy thread and a Previously on Buffy Angel thread. The discussion that arose when the Buffy eps first aired on cable was pretty intense for a while, and moved quickly. It should be separate from whatever Buffy talk is going on and from the current season Angel. IMO, of course.

Can't we just shut Angel & Firefly NAFDA quotables and change the title of the Buffy thread to "Quotable ME"?

Maybe after the DVD's have been out for a while, but not before then, please. Since folks will be watching the US-unaired eps at different times, either they'll have no comfortable place to post quotables, or people who haven't seen them yet will have to stay out of quotables as Angel airs.

Quotables has always been NAFDA. Why would that change? Non-NAFDA aired stuff (i.e. the Firefly UK eps) wouldn't be allowed, even in the Firefly Quotables thread that we have now - because it's NAFDA.

Point. But once the DVDs become available, it'd be nice for people who get them right away to be able to quote freely, without bumping up against those of us who'll be hoping to get them from Santa.

My preference would be to have Buffy/Angel quotables, and merge Firefly into them in January rather than right away.

move out and draw fire

Whew! I kept trying to get at the Internet today at work to chime in on this, but those bastards kept expecting me to WORK at work. The gall.

Looks like my proposal both jumped the gun and jump-started the discussion. I do think now is a good time for housecleaning, before the new season starts...we've got a month and change to figure out the re-org, the board load, whether we need fund-raising (always yes), etc.; really not all that much time.

I will withdraw my proposal for now, but I think we are going to have to address the non-ME-TV idea...there's a lot of TV talk here, and even if I *can* discuss shows elsewhere, I like to discuss them here also as this is where the cogent analysis and good snark reside. At the very least, if I need to compare something to Buffy, you guys know what I'm talking about.

x-posting this partially with Lightbulbs....

I would get spoiled for Angel if I was trying to run the deathmatches while people were quoting from new episodes of Angel (we have no idea, as of yet, when we'll be getting Angel in relation to the US). Assuming that the deathmatches are still going on when new episodes of Angel start (which they might). From a technical standpoint it would be much more difficult for me to run the matches if there was a lot of non-match conversation/quoting going on.

I'm with you on that, Raquel.

We've got some time, it looks like, before we can feel comfortable adding another new thread, especially one that could conceivably generate pretty high volume. This is a good thing. Let's try to use this time to explore some of the options, speculate about the likely pitfalls, and see where that discussion takes us.

move out and draw fire

Over in Lightbulbs, proposal officially withdrawn.

Just throwing it out there, but what about a dedicated watch-and-post thread?

I will think more about re-org suggestions that don't actually involve adding new threads. Really, I will.
