Over the past couple months there have been suggestions to eliminate the Previously thread, or make it solely for Angel. I suppose I just don't see why it can't encompass discussions of both syndicated shows.

Here's what I don't get. Since the unAmericans have seen the final Buffy, there is only "previously on Buffy". The Buffy thread has now become a previously thread, and whether people want to discuss the same episodes in the current Previously thread is their prerogative, but clearly redundant. I'm with Cindy on keeping a Buffy thread, but there's no reason that I can think of not to change the current line on the Previously thread to reflect Angel discussion, which still has new shows.

So the changes we all agree on seem to be...

• Archiving Spoilage Lite: Buffy

• Archiving Buffista Press

• Altering the "previously" slug to make it clear that "previously on Angel" talk goes there

• Combining the Quotables threads post-Deathmatch

To be honest, the whole option of bumping Previously ticks me off a little.

I was going to ask, because I don't really go into the thread, what is the purpose of Previously? I don't understand why one can't discuss syndicated episodes in the main thread. I'd be very happy to have a denizen of Previously explain to me why it is so different so that I can better understand why that difference should be preserved.

I wasn't around for it's original incarnation, but I'd imagine it was to handle discussion of previous episodes and seasons when the main thread was taken over with current discussion.

Plus it's a place that's unAmerican friendly, and while I know they have their own thread, it's a thread that allows discussion for both unAmerican and Americans without worrying about the WF or NAFDA.

Good question.

I don't mean "we have a bullshit consensus and should therefore make these changes right away." I mean, "of the people who have been in the Bureaucracy and Lightbulbs threads today, these changes have been mentioned several times and have met no significant objection." It's just an informal list to help me (and hopefully others) keep track of what's being said.

I don't think it's serving the first purpose, nor do I think it is necessary. This other, however, is relevant. I'd love to have some unAms weigh in on this.

Burrell, the way I understand it, it's a place for people who are watching the syndicated shows (possibly for the first time) to talk about them without getting spoiled for the new shows. It's also a place to have an earlier show discussion without it getting lost in the discussions of new episodes or watch'n'posts which can happen during the season.

This is now true for any thread dedicated to discussing Buffy. I mean, right? Hasn't everyone now seen the whole thing? (Except Nilly, of course -- sorry about that...)
