Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Or, at least, we could possibly host Sang Sacre somewhere else.

If Sang Sacre isn't generating any posts, then it's not a drain on the system right now. It kind of comes and goes. I'd rather it stayed, but it seems like it's run down now.

As David says, if it's not generating many posts, it's not a drain. And it does run in cycles.

Right now, Buffy 4 is at 4,902 messages. I think we should let it play out, and decide after it gets to 10,000 whether we want an independent Buffy 5, or if Buffy discussion can go into Previously.

IMO - not if we're going to assign Angel re-run discussion to Previously. If Farscape, Due South, and Firefly have their own threads, I don't understand why we'd consider shoving Buffy discussion into the Previouslies thread at the Buffistas board.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

What Cindy Said. It's a freaking Buffy board. We should have a Buffy thread.

I don't see the problem, as, well, quotables has ALWAYS been NAFDA.

True, but since any Buffy and Firefly quotes wouldn't be NAFDA anymore, would it now make a difference? I'm just asking.

It shouldn't. Normally, they don't get much traffic at all except during first run of the episodes.

As far as the Buffy thread discussion goes, I think we're getting tangled in the semantics of whether the continuing Buffy thread should be "Buffy" or "Previously" (presumably because they'll all be previously).

However, both of those positions are essentially arguing the same thing, but with different preferences for naming.

Personally, (and I think if we sit down and think about it, we'd all generally agree) I think that we should always have a Buffy thread, and it should always be named just "Buffy," in deference to our humble origins.

Yes, it is by default a "perviously" (I'ma leave that typo...) thread, but we are Buffistas, and always keeping a Buffy thread, entitled Buffy, is probably our best option for essentially erecting a virtual giant bronze statue of Buffy in the rotunda, which I think we should do, as it is right and proper that such a thing be done.

(EtA: Jeez, I think I came up with a different spelling of "previously" for every single time it occured in this post. Yeesh.)

I think the point was that having a buffy thread and a previously on buffy thread was redundant, because all buffy episodes are now "previouslies", so they'd just become one.

But the previously thread will be broadened to include Angel - so it's not just a Buffy thread. It's the syndication thread for ME shows.

(This is in response to Megan, not Cindy)

Right, but what I'm saying is that it's only right and proper that we just always call the thread "Buffy" rather than "Previously."

Yes, they're all previously, but we should honor the fiesty stake-weilding girlie what inspired us to become Buffistae.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Right. So we have an active, conversation-based need for the Previously thread. We don't have that same need for a Buffy thread (it could be folded into Previously) but there's clearly a popular desire to keep a straight-up Buffy thread, so we probably shouldn't fold those two together.
