Thanks, DX.

Nobody

Jon - I get that. I guess I'd just like to see our names more reflect thread content. When the DVDs are out and people have gotten a chance to watch them, we'll only need one thread. If at some time, there are movie spoilers and we need a thread for it, we can create one. I just don't get holding onto the spoilers title. But really, what's important is what we can post where, and this isn't a substantive change. I just figured we should make more sense.

I do think that maybe it's a good idea to pull discussion of a general TV thread until we've figured out what we're going to do with the rest of the boards, but that's up to Raquel.

But Cindy, they are NAFDA spoilers. As indicated in the Firefly thread slug.

Right, ita, but keeping it named Firefly Spoilers, while a true description of the thread, is not an accurate description of what's going on in the thread. Changing the name would allow other Brits who come by to know where to go for discussion. Admittedly this is not a condition that will last long, but you see my point? If we were to rename a thread, it would be to more accurately reflect what's going on in the thread.

Speaking just for myself, I wouldn't mind having LotR folded into Movies.

I know LJ and DX feel differently, but sepaking for myself, I would not mind LotR being folded into Movies. Of course, LotR discussion is going to utterly take over movies once the DVDs and the last chapter start, but that will fade back into normal movie discussion by this time next year. (until the last DVDs come out, but the increased traffic then will not quite be the same).

As for other thread combinations, I (as a Farscape devotee) would not object to Farscape being combined with something else to create a sort of categorized TV thread (sci-fi, maybe) so that some of our threads become more general, but still retain much of their flavor, if that would help.

Kat suggested in lightbulb these sorts of categorized discussion, and maybe that's something we should look at, instead of all these non-ME show-specific threads, we widen those threads a little bit, sci-fi for genre discussions of shows, and perhaps a HoYay thread for shows like Due South and Smallville (maybe, just tossing out ideas here, people).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

keeping it named Firefly Spoilers, while a true description of the thread, is not an accurate description of what's going on in the thread

I see this point, but if it's not a Spoiler thread, we have at least two definitions of spoiler running around the board.

That's my contention, my sole one.

hip deep in pie

I think LoTR should have its own thread, there's enough volume on those movies alone to warrant a separate thread. And because I don't really want to read that much about LotR to find out what people think of the new Clive Owen flick.

(And I'm no Angus, I liked the movies.)

That's a valid point, considering the brouhaha that's cropped up over our definitions of spoilers in the recent past.

(Edited because I was talking to ita, not Sue, although Sue has a point, too)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Also, the slug to the Firefly thread says [NAFDA] There's a new Jossverse in town. Discussion of "Trash", "The Message", and "Heart of Gold" is restricted to the Firefly Spoilers thread.

which seems clear to me, but then I'm the one who wrote the slug.

Never mind, I think I spoke too soon.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Putting the Angel Quotables in a general ME Quotables thread will make that thread spoilery, which will make it pretty much a de facto Angel Quotables thread. I don't have a problem with that, but UnAmericans might. I dunno, are a lot of quotes added long after the show's original airing?

Or we can disregard the whole thing, because now I look like a crazy person. :)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The two threads I don't see any reason for keeping around are Spoilage Light: Buffy and Buffista Corp. (Since they're already dead, closing/archiving them won't help our traffic problem, so this is purely a housekeeping note.)

Quotable Firefly hasn't seen a post since April, but I can see wanting to keep it around because of the DVD release. I do think Cindy's idea of one big happy Quotable thread (after the Buffy quote deathmatching is over) is a good one.
