Harken: You fought with Captain Reynolds in the war? Zoe: Fought with a lot of people in the war. Harken: And your husband? Zoe: Fight with him sometimes, too.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Hmm... I went and opened The Bulb when we had 4 seconds, but it strikes me, as a bureaucratic matter separate from the current discussion, that we never have figured out whether seconds can be revoked.

And yes, I'm aware that this is something that could lead to months, years, maybe centuries of bloodshed, so maybe I should just shut up.

You're just trying to start a board-wide melee, aren't you?

Nobody

(Let's forget it, because I unrevoked it. I didn't intend to give it 'til I saw an actual proposal, and was too generous. But I've let it stand. Let's forget this ever happened. I'd say if someone says, "I'll second," but then the proposal turns out differently, they don't actually have to let their pre-proposal second count. But it doesn't matter in this case, and my blood is thin, lately.)

Dude! I offered to shut up! Do you have any idea at all how incredibly rare that is?

move out and draw fire

I licked all of the initial seconds, so they are MINE!!!

("first seconds?!?!")

Round 1 of the WhiteFont Wars has started with ita's point about casting spoilers. Who wants popcorn?

Oooh! Raquel licked me.

Now I am hers.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

You know what? You can't spell the word "popcorn" without "porn".

Or "modigy", apparently. But that's a whole 'nother thread.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

Burrell makes a good point about general discussion threads:

I find the conversation that takes place in them disjointed, undeveloped, and basically kinda boring. I no longer bother with Literary, I never really started with Music, and I rarely try to keep up with Movies. I find there is little to no payoff for reading them. This is not the fault of those who post in the threads. It is the nature of the general discussion format. It just doesn't go very far.

The Buffistas grew out of an obsessive focus on just one show. That's where the community came from. People say that the Smallville and Stargate discussions have their own communities now. I don't see Movies and Natter building communities. They live off the community we already have. We might never share a universal, all-consuming obsession like Bureaucr Buffy again, but if we nurture new obsessions, they can regenerate us.

This is making me think I should have voted for the Minearverse thread, and maybe should not vote for the general TV thread. The Minearverse will help us keep Allyson, the way Fic attracts the Lizard, because they're obsessed. The TV thread won't help retain or attract anybody.
