'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

One method for determining thread closure that no one has discussed is low-or-no-usage. If a thread falls into disuse, it should be pretty clear that it's no longer needed. As long as two Atlantic Canadians are left posting to each other (and I hope it never comes to that, because they're all wonderful members of this online community), their specific thread has a good use here.

Perhaps a metric should be established to say, "If a thread has less than X posts in Y time period from Z different posters it will be considered for closure" and that would eliminate some uncertainty in the general thread closure process.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I don't see how it's fair enough that Tim gets his own thread

Tim isn't merely ME, he's a Buffista.

Really, if any Buffista gets a TV show I'd think a thread would be a serious consideration. Hell, I'd even put it to a vote: Any Buffista with a TV show should get a thread, yes or no.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

t resolves to begin work on new TV show immediately

Some working episode titles:

Reindeer - Coping with light deprivation through drugs.
Naked Mole Rats - From beneath you, they devour.
Southern Right Whales - It's not the size, it's what you do with it that counts. ...Ok, it's the size.
Box Jellyfish - I always take vinegar to the beach. You're probably the same yourself.
Giraffes - Let us kiss with tongue!
Mantis Shrimp
- Nice aquarium you have here. Be a shame if anything were to happen to it...
Hyenas - Forcing together parts of unequal size.

Hmmm. This could work.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

Pitch it as Survivor 6: Survivor of the Fittest. Now there's a reality show.

(The Survivor series is about the only thing as heavily edited as this post. Why is it spelled that way?)

So it's like Survivor of the fittest?

Hee. I shamefully admit I would watch a show where contestants had to choose what they want stuffed down their trousers, naked mole rats or mantis shrimp, and watch them make the wrong choice every. Single. Week.

Yes

(and possibly 'I second that')

I now want to know which billytea considers to be the right choice.

I like that. I'd second the proposal.

okay, so I skimmed a little, and there was some skipping (but I blame that on the fact that I've been mixing pathwork squares all afternoon and my brain now refuses to recognise three quarters of the colour spectrum) but, has the conversation really become...

A Buffista, a nekkid prawn and a pair of trousers in a treehouse get a talkshow, nobody hears them fall, how many forrest threads do we create?

It may depend on how many monkeys typing randomly it takes to agree on the slash in Shakespeare, and whether they're grammatically correct while they do it.

Edit: and all these trees bring a new, terrible, punning meaning to 'post Graduate'.

When a tree falls in the forest, and no one's around, do you think it was Tim who killed it?

Natter follows.

I now want to know which billytea considers to be the right choice.

I Googled mantis shrimp when he said that and they have powerful, praying-mantis-type claws for spearing fish that can strike hard enough to break double-paned aquarium glass. They're pretty handy with the laceration. However, I also just looked up naked mole rats and I don't want anything that's a coprophage in my pants either.
