When did the Firefly thread get created in reference to the time frame of the show?

Aside from merging/closing/adapting the Buffy threads, I'd really rather not monkey with the existing threads unless there's a compelling need. Sure, Smallville and Due South could be merged, maybe some of the fic threads, etc., but right now, these threads are all in use and have their own tone and atmosphere. Why mess with that unless we really need to?

While I'm generally in favor of preserving the flavor of threads, I'm also open to the idea of combining. Threads change over time anyway. Combining the Smallville/Due South threads might be a useful way to consolidate the HoYay fans which could bring in more of the community or spark more conversation. I'm not necessarily advocating that, just using it as an example that consolidation shouldn't be seen as a deathstroke to a particular sub-community but could be a positive way to re-energize discussion.
We grandfathered a lot of threads over from WX that wouldn't be voted in now. We do need to be conscious of Thread Spread, and consolidation might be necessary. I just don't think it should be seen as a pure negative.

Whoa. I don't post or read for a day or so and this all blossoms.
Iffen it matters:
1. I'm still anti-thread proliferation.
2. I'm pro-thread combination, but I have a feeling that you will find that the people who post in the current threads won't be so thrilled at the prospect. For example, if Smallville is the only thread in which I post regularly and it gets sucked into something else, then I could see not wanting non-participants to define what happens to it for me.
3. Given #2, I think we should proceed with extreme caution in opening threads. IF we don't like to close or combine those fledgling threads with minimal posts, then if we ever start new ones, we'll face the same battle.
4. I wholeheartedly agree before we do housekeeping etc., we need a state of the Board convo on Who We Want To Be.

One method for determining thread closure that no one has discussed is low-or-no-usage. If a thread falls into disuse, it should be pretty clear that it's no longer needed. As long as two Atlantic Canadians are left posting to each other (and I hope it never comes to that, because they're all wonderful members of this online community), their specific thread has a good use here.
Perhaps a metric should be established to say, "If a thread has less than X posts in Y time period from Z different posters it will be considered for closure" and that would eliminate some uncertainty in the general thread closure process.

Tim isn't merely ME, he's a Buffista.
Really, if any Buffista gets a TV show I'd think a thread would be a serious consideration. Hell, I'd even put it to a vote: Any Buffista with a TV show should get a thread, yes or no.
