That seems super complicated for folks not deep into MCU. I already feel like I'll need a cheat sheet to separate any DC characters. If there are any with shows and stuff.

That's not necessarily the same group, is it? I would hope that a new thread would have broader appeal. I watch a handful of those shows and would be interested in discussing, and presumably there are others. But maybe it is super obvious and I'm just that far outside of the verse to not know that.

I'd just prefer some sort of thread definition that is a little more intuitive if we can make it work. But I'm interested to hear what more invested folks think.

I have no problem with including X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, etc., because it's not like those movies are frequent enough to really disrupt discussion about MCU stuff.

My personal consideration spoiler-wise is the fact that I don't have Netflix, so am not watching Daredevil. I think that means I probably never will, so who cares about spoilers, right?

And like the AoS/Winter Soldier stuff was basically self-spoiling if you were behind either way, so I wouldn't take that into consideration much.

I'm fine with streaming things staying in Premium, but I agree we need to work out a new spoiler policy for them.

Just popping in to let you know that I can still set up the voting page. But I'm confused as to who is the official Proposer here. Sophia sort of did, since the secondses came immediately after her post, but I'm not sure if that was her intention. Scola brought up the MCU part and Lee first mentioned the streaming bit.

The reason we need an official Proposer is that that person has final say over the wording of the Proposal.

If Scola and Lee don't want to do it, I can. I have no horse in the race, though, so I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

One thing to consider for the streaming thread (should it occur) is to give a day an episode for watching before it's considering spoiling, but taken as a whole. For example if House of Cards season is 12 episodes, have whitefont in effect for 12 days; 13th day is no longer considered spoiled. Generally the whole seasons being released would mean a quick count of episodes.

I don't have any preference on streaming spoiler policy, because given my personal experience, I know lots of people will see it before I do, and if I cared enough that spoilers would bother me, I'd have already watched the show.

I tend to read spoilers for shows I care about. Yes, it ruins some things for me--I would love to have been unspoiled for "I'd like to test that theory", but I did that to myself--but it relieves me of the dread I have that they're going to do something horrible to a character I like.

As for non-proliferation, why? Because it was ita's stance, or is there another reason? I believe that if we have a blanket "no new threads" stance, we'll stagnate. The things we're interested in evolve, and we should be willing to adapt the way we talk about them. The reason we have the propose and debate process is to give us time to consider whether a thread is really necessary, proposed threads have been withdrawn in the past by the proposer. Is this a living, growing board or a bell jar?
