Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

My only concern about a thread that combines the movies and the TV shows is that our rules for whitefonting movies and TV shows currently conflict.

TV shows (at least in Jossverse, where the MCU shows live now) are NAFDA, so there's no whitefonting of anything as soon as it airs on the East Coast.

Movies have the rule of whitefonting plot-related discussion for 2 weeks (although, do we strictly follow that any more?) and major HSQ until 2 weeks after the DVD release (which I *really* don't think we follow any more).

So if someone is caught up on SHIELD but hasn't seen AoU yet, and they're within the 2-week window, they can post about the show but won't be spoiled for the movie (in theory, because of the movie whitefonting rule). But it doesn't work in reverse. If someone has seen AoU but is NOT caught up on SHIELD, all the TV stuff will be in regular font, so if that person wants to post about AoU, they run the risk of getting spoiled for the TV stuff.

I'm not saying that's a reason to not have an MCU thread, but maybe we need to rethink what we whitefont, and for how long.

And the alternate viewpoint is the de facto approach to Boxed Set, which is basically "Nothing is whitefonted, so if you want to post about Walking Dead but haven't seen Arrow yet, you may get spoiled."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I agree with Hec and I agree with Tep.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Would Daredevil and X-Men be part of the MCU (for purposes of our thread)? Spiderman? Are there animated shows to be considered?

Daredevil, yes. Spider-Man, only as produced by Marvel.

The MCU is specifically the universe produced and created by Marvel Studios, not any movie or TV show that features a Marvel character. No X-Men, no Fantastic Four, no five Spider-Man movies (but the SIXTH one, yes), etc.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

Further complicating things is Netflix's practice of dumping all episodes of a season simultaneously. Discussion of Netflix series is hampered because we don't really have a whitefont policy for that kind of thing.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Are we saving the discussion of a Streaming (minus MCU) thread for later? I am definitely cool with that but I didn't want to miss my chance to support the idea.

Streaming should probably be a separate proposal.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That seems super complicated for folks not deep into MCU. I already feel like I'll need a cheat sheet to separate any DC characters. If there are any with shows and stuff.

Yeah, that is not going to be easy for me to remember.

What if it was in the slug, like in Boxed Set?
