Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Jesse -- I just sent you a sample ballot. Please confirm receipt.
Got it!
And for the record, I don't think this is something that needs to be codified in the Rules.
What, the voting process, or the proposal at hand?
The proposal at hand. It feels to me like it ought to be self-generated, and doesn't actually affect the community as a whole. I imagine this is why it didn't get quorum last time.
But I will count the votes honestly and fairly!
I feel the same way, actually. I think it's a good schedule to adhere to but I'm not sure having an official rule about it will make much of a difference. However, to the extent that having this schedule be "official" makes ANY DIFFERENCE, I think it's a good thing and will vote Yes.
It can't hoit.
My feelings agree with Jesse's. And Jon's. But I'll abide by majority decision.
I can't see how, even if this does become a formal rule, we would ever go about enforcing it. If there isn't the drive for someone in the proper timezone to host and plan an F2F, it's not going to happen no matter what the official procedures say.
I think having an official rule makes it slightly more likely the schedule be adhered to. And for various reasons I think the schedule make it more likely that people will only pimp (as opposed to making remarks to encourage others to pimp) stuff they have the energy to follow through with. So I'm in the "can't hoit" camp with a side of "might help".
