Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Our wings are not tired.

To date we've just updated them on stompy whim, right?

I think not only stompy whim, but you should do it unannounced and see how long it takes for us to notice. Or, ya know, wait until somebody requests a change.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

you should do it unannounced and see how long it takes for us to notice.

A Stompy rickrolled the music thread's slug (or header; I disremember which), and I'm not sure how long it took people to notice.

And I'm not sure which evil Stompy did it. t casts suspicious glances towards Stompies

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Ha! Funny.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

A Stompy rickrolled the music thread's slug

And they didn't have the common courtesy to use the Muppet Rickroll, did they? Truly EVIL!

Ann, that's a ferret.

I think it's appropriate to review thread slugs from time to time. It's also not a bad idea to have a system for that kind of review. (The only substantive idea I have is that TV threads should be reviewed in connection with the beginning of the fall season. Maybe in early December, after a couple of months to see how new series affect discussion.)

I'm not sure it needs to be that formal. Discussion in-thread, or maybe in Bureaucracy, should be enough. With bullshit consensus controlling.

In fact, I doubt we need a vote to establish such a system. Just an informal understanding.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I forgot that voting should have started yesterday. Then again, I'm still unclear if we need to vote on anything since Stompies can change slugs and descriptions at their whim and at this point that's all that's being asked. I think.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's been no formal proposal. We'll have to hash out presentation so the content doesn't start too much below the fold, but I think that's about it.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Should we do that in Bureaucracy, like with thread titles?

ETA: Or maybe in each thread concerned?

How about something like this?

In these 3 the header can remain the same, but the slugs should be what's apt to be discussed in the coming months:

Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
Slug: Thread for discussion of procedural television shows, including, but not limited to, ?, ?, and ?. [NAFDA]
Header: This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case.

Comedy 1: A Little Song, a Little Dance, a Little Seltzer Down Your Pants
Slug: Thread for discussion of comedy television shows, including, but not limited to, The Office, ?, and ?. [NAFDA]
Header: This thread is for comedy TV, including network and cable shows. [NAFDA]

Premium Cable: The Cursing Costs Extra
Slug: Discussions of HBO and Showtime original programming including, but not limited to ?, ?, and ?. [NAFDA]
Header: A thread for the discussion of all HBO and Showtime original programming.

These two would need some tweaking of both slug and header:

Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
Slug: Thread for the discussion of original cable drama, including, but not limited to ?, ?, ?. [NAFDA]
Header: Thread for the discussion of original cable drama--but not scifi/fantasy (that's Boxed Set!) or pay-to-play (that's Premium Cable!). Psychics, detectives, surgeons, and firemen welcome. [NAFDA]

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
Slug: Thread for discussion of non-fiction television, including, but not limited to, Project Runway, So You Think You Can Dance, and ?.
Header: This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television, documentaries, and sundry. [NAFDA]

I’ve changed the slug to be similar to the others, but both the slug and header should probably be changed to update the shows, and maybe the genre mention:

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
Slug: Discussions of sci-fi/fantasy shows we watch, including, but not limited to, ?, ?, and ?. May contain HoYay.

Header: A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The thread is closed without a proposal being put to the vote.

Further discussion is for Bureaucracy.
