Generally speaking, I think the distinction between web-based TV and TV that's pushed out by a network is already kind of pointless and bound to become more so.

So many of the thoughts and arguments that occur to me on this subject are automatically obsolete, because of the subject matter.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

It's not like Joss is taking over network TV, so automatically crating a thread for each new show is, on average, happening once every five years or so.

This cuts both ways. Given that it's not likely to happen much, if at all, why make a special rule for it?

Especially given the "when" problem. And the "web shows" problem. And I'll throw in one more: what exactly counts as a Whedon show? Does he have to be the creator/EP? What if at some point he takes a gig as a consulting producer on something? Was Standoff a Minear show? Was Moonlight a Greenwalt show?

I think that any rule that can functionally deal with all the hypotheticals will be insanely complicated. Dealing with things when they actually exist seems fairly simple.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Wouldn't a web series legitimately fit in Other Media? I thought it was for Jossy works in other media. Or is it only for Buffyverse in Other Media?

I think the distinction between web-based TV and TV that's pushed out by a network is already kind of pointless and bound to become more so. The real difference for future Joss-on-the-web shows is that they'll be episodic video storytelling (as opposed to, say, his funnybooks). It's not about whether you get it from iTunes or... get it from iTunes (U SEE WHAT I DID THAR?)

I agree with amych about webisodes. They seem like "other media" now, but they're really not.

Anyway -- Dollhouse thread? Right on.

Why not a "Jossverse" thread like the Minearverse one, where any new Joss work can be discussed, and if one thing or another gets enough traffic, like maybe Dollhouse, you spin off? The B/A thread could maybe even morph into that (though that may be heresy).

I was just thinking the same thing, Mala.

Our wings are not tired.

Dollhouse! Let's thread it.

The Jossverse thread sounds like a good idea. It seems unlikely that he will have 3 or more series running at once to clog up the thread.

But if the show gets cancelled before we even finish the voting process? I will laugh and laugh and laugh. For mine is an evil and heartless laugh. Especially when laughing at myself.

Another good reason for a Jossverse thread. It would be less sad if the above happened. Which it won't. Because Dollhouse will rock. And the viewing public will embrace it. And FOX doesn't want to run American Idol in that timeslot.

I very much like the idea of a Jossverse thread. It may only ever hold Dollhouse, but it will be there just in case.
