Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Not currently, the Buffy/Angel tie-in RPG publisher lost their license a while back...

Not in print at the moment, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I don't see the rationale for putting it in Other Media. Is there a serious overlap of posters where that would make sense?

There's a pretty large overlap, yes.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Why would gaming discussion not work in Other Media? The current thread is about 16 months old and has less than 1500 posts. That's about 3 posts a day.

This.

No, not this.

I think this is one of those "theoretical" instances where, perhaps, you could make a case that it could work, maybe even it should work, but it doesn't.

Maybe it's that gamers are accustomed to the "geekoid" stigma and are more comfortable in a dedicated space for their hobby. I don't know. But Other Media is not sustaining this particular topic, whether people think it should or not.

Okay, if the default geekiest thread on a geeky board is not sustaining a topic (I haven't seen a huge or serious effort to get the ball rolling starting the conversation there, mind), then how do you expect a thread to sustain it?

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I don't understand why a thread with three posts a day is keeping a conversation from happening.

Aieee, my eyes. Also, depending on the table, not very safe.

And yet....

Because I've already seen a fair amount of interest in having it.

I know Sean subscribes to Other Media, I subscribe to Other Media, I would not be surprised if ND and others subscribe to Other Media, and yet...no gaming discussion takes root. Laga mentioned in B'cracy that she has attempted to bring it up in Other Media and seemed to imply that it gets rolled over.

This says to me that people want a place to discuss it...enough people that I have confidence the thread would sustain itself. If nothing else because, as Sean pointed out, any two gamers can, given the opportunity, talk the Universe to death. I see a handful + here...the discussion could ROCKET.

Are you responding to Laga? You're in the thread. I'm being serious here, not snarky, but I'm about to rush to a meeting: if any two gamers can talk the universe to death, why is it not happening?

If I knew that, Plei, I wouldn't have felt the need to propose a thread for it. It's just not happening in the available threads.

eta:

Oh, I just put that together. Heh.

I haven't seen her posts about gaming, frankly. They've been lost in a lot of whitefont about the Buffy comics and general discussion of other comics.

Honestly, I tend to skim Other Media because I'm YOINKS behind on Buffy: S8 and don't wanna get spoiled even inadvertently.

ETA: Also, Sean, you know I was kidding about the cooking thing, right?

Of course. But cooking made for a good comparative/contrasting subject example.

if any two gamers can talk the universe to death, why is it not happening?

It is, just not here?

Hey, if you guys vote us down, we'll probably give it another try in Other Media.

I'm just saying there's a number of people here who seem to have forgotten that Buffistas have reacted poorly in the (recent, even) past to having their thread steamrolled by a vote.
