Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Generally speaking, shows seem to find a home that support the discussion, Strega. Something like The Dead Zone, which is already talked about in Boxed Set, probably won't come in to Cable Drama because it's already discussed there. or, if it becomes apparent that the people who talk TDZ do so in Cable, the discussion will move there. I don't think it's necessary to police the shows by thread. It seems, in my experience, to work out naturally.

I understand that they were a success for a segment of the population here, but that is not universal.

Which I do understand. But it's also not universal that whitefont/no-whitefont is the only modus operandi for thread users, which is the point I was trying to make.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There is nothing that pleases everyone equally.

Very true, but a number of folks were taking time to make the point upthread that whitefont/no-whitefont is considered a deal-breaker for them on whether or not they will participate.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

There is nothing that pleases everyone equally.

Which I think is just Not Fair, and I would like to propose a vote to change the universe so everyone can be happy.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Or, we all have to make compromises, and we try figure out what compromise will work for most people. As the no-thread-nannying discussion regarding the network dramas illustrated, there's a strong sentiment to make sure no-one is left out in the cold except by choice.

I agree with brenda that this doesn't have to be binary. I think there are certainly enough people who prefer whitefont to create some kind of space amenable to them.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I think there are certainly enough people who prefer whitefont to create some kind of space amenable to them.

A whitefont ghetto?

I don't think it's necessary to police the shows by thread.
I wasn't asking for that. I meant, in a practical sense, how will people know that? Will the thread slug will say "this is for non-SF cable drama"?

I asked because there were questions upthread about what would or wouldn't be considered a drama -- not just SF, but things like Psych and Monk. I don't think there was ever a clear (to me, anyway) answer to "What is actually going to be covered in this thread?" If the answer is, "We'll figure it out as we go," that's fine; it's an answer. I just wasn't sure if that was actually left open or if I'd missed something.
