Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm not sure how much spinning of SF threads shows. Well, what new it shows. We've spun those off before and it worked pretty well.

Art Crawl!!!

I would guess that most shows that started airing in the Fall are probably about 5 episodes from the end of their season.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I don't know if that's the best way to do it. I think the best option is to put up a "just right" sized bucket thread, black font and see if it works.

I'm afraid a more general thread used as battle royale to determine posting rates is going to provide more noise than information plus actually deter conversation.

And I am going to pimp hard for black font all the way.

I agree with all of this.

Potential buckets:

Action Adventure - 24, Prison Break, The Unit, Traveler (starting soon!), Jericho?

Unconventional Procedurals - Bones, Medium, Numb3rs, Raines

Friday Night Lights is getting lots of love at the moment but I don't know what kind of bucket would work for that one since I don't watch it. Personally, I'd love to find a place for Brothers & Sisters if other people are into it.

If people want to talk Reality/Non-Scripted those could probably work in one big bucket. And I'm sure some comedy grouping could work, but I don't watch enough to suggest a specific one.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Don't we get the spinoff in the fall?

There hasn't been any word on whether Caprica will actually go into production.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Isn't there a damn British miniseries coming up that could sustain single thread status? When's the next Dr. Who?

Since we're feeling all experimental and I'm giddy with the Zipless Fuck of temporary threads I like the idea of putting up a couple buckets and a single thread from now until June and seeing how it works.

The seasons are against us but I wouldn't mind an Animato thread for next season's Venture Brothers, the Futurama movies (whenever they come out), Adult Swim in general or the next season of Avatar.

A Justice League / Teen Titans / Avatar thread might've been a workable bucket when they were all current.

I had suggested some potential buckets way upthread during the Heroes discussion based on shows I hear about. I should go look those up.

I wouldn't mind a Sitcom thread if we could talk about The Office, 30 Rock, HIMYM, Earl, Scrubs... Something like that could be fun.

It's on now. Britishly.

Also, I approve of a place to talk about Avatar with Buffistas, although I think Justice League and Teen Titans probably do fine in the comics thread for obvious reasons.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

What about SG1 or SGA? Those could get a thread.

See, but I like those where they are. I know Boxed Set doesn't work for everyone, but for those of us it does work for...it works.

NoiseDesign - Apr 10, 2007 10:29:56 pm PDT #6504 of 10289
Our wings are not tired

I just really would like to talk about them and other shows and I've not been able to keep up with Boxed Set in so long.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I don't know if that's the best way to do it. I think the best option is to put up a "just right" sized bucket thread, black font and see if it works.

I really agree with this.

I'm afraid a more general thread used as battle royale to determine posting rates is going to provide more noise than information plus actually deter conversation.

And super-strongly agree with this.

Over here I posted some rough categories I saw with television that's currently on.

Procedurals Thread - House, The Unit, Without a Trace, CSI(s), Numb3rs, jericho (?), Bones, The Closer, Cold Case, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law and Order(s)

Dramedies - Ugly Betty, The Office, Studio 60, Monk, Psych, Grey's, Gilmore Girls, The Boondocks, others(?)

Serious Drama - 24, Friday Night Lights, Prison Break, Brothers & Sisters, Jericho(?), others(?)

UK TV - Spooks, Hustle, Robin Hood, maybe Doctor Who as it airs in the UK, and keep Doctor Who as it airs in the US in Boxed Set?

Some of these are similar to what aurelia's suggested. So maybe we can find the common points and work from there?

Isn't there a damn British miniseries coming up that could sustain single thread status? When's the next Dr. Who?

Doctor Who's on now, but that's why I think a UK tv thread would be nice. If only for the blackfont! Since Hustle's coming back this/next week, and Spooks is on this fall, I think it would be handy.

I wouldn't mind a Sitcom thread if we could talk about The Office, 30 Rock, HIMYM, Earl, Scrubs... Something like that could be fun.

I'm a little wary of a sitcom thread, even though I watch three of the shows you just mentioned! I don't know why. Probably my stance isn't firm on that. And I have no opinion on cartoon threads 'cause I don't watch 'em.

What about SG1 or SGA? Those could get a thread.

I think it'd be a shame to lose the Stargates from boxed set, myself. I'm actually not that keen to have a Supernatural thread either.

Isn't there a damn British miniseries coming up that could sustain single thread status?

I think these shows have too short of a run (10-12 episodes) to support having a single thread created for an individual show. Plus, if the European posters get these shows months in advance, would they have to white font until it was shown in the US? Canada's showings are probably out of whack with either the European and US airings. Rather than NAFDA, this (these) threads would have to be USDA approved.
