You're talking to Serenity. And, Early... Serenity is very unhappy.

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Oh, and it's also on major network broadcast TV, which once again speaks to the reason most Buffistas may find it literally accessible.

(If we're looking to split up Box Set into two manageable threads, how about SciFi Channel shows and those that aren't?)

I'll just note that I would take part in discussion of Heroes (and Supernatural) but I hadn't set foot in Boxed Set until this week because I can't watch any of the other shows (outside of extreme DVD delay). It would make sense to me for Boxed Set to cover the non-premium cable shows (that it already has) with the network shows living elsewhere. I don't have an objection to new show threads (although personally, I'd be just as happy if Heroes and Supernatural lived in Natter).

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am aurelia. No cable. No enter Box Set. Would like to talk about Heroes. No objection to new threads. Wouldn't minds Heroes and SPN in Natter

The funny thing is, after fifty cabillion of these thread openings, I feel like I can anticipate what everyone is going to say, because the divide seems to be proliferationista v. antiproliferationista.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

You know, as generally anti-prolif as I tend to be, I do feel like Heroes overwhelms Boxed Set to the point that I've occasionally considered it in need of its own thread.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I've always been antiprolif, but I've come around to liking premium (even though I was once agin it). OTOH, I really don't like having a lot of show-specific threads, because I prefer some cross-pollination and the more everything is off in its own corner, the more it feels like a (gasp!) threaded board. So that leads me to not like a Heroes thread (or an SPN one), to like the SciFi boxed set idea okay, and to really be intrigued at the thought of a broadcast/basic/premium split -- broken down enough for the volume to be more manageable, easy enough to understand where to go, spoilers more manageable for the cable-less or premium-less, and more likely to sustain itself than any single-show thread.

plus, then those crazy kids can take their freaky heroes and spns and whatever those crazy kids are watching these days off somewheres and stop putting their chocolate in my (natural) peanut butter

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I have trouble judging one part of the equation, people who don't want to enter the thread to discuss one show because they want to avoid discussion of another show, because I'm a spoiler whore from way back.

I wonder if the current nature of television scheduling lends itself to a lot of threads. The SciFi shows have such long hiatuses and even network shows rarely show many repeats, filling the time with "Bowling with America's Top Model and the Geek." By the summer, the thread may be all Eureka (yay!), because everything else is off the air until fall.

The short answer is I'm fairly antiproliferation in that I don't like having a lot if empty echoing threads or ones that, in the absence of a show, turn into mini-Natters.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I could live with this solution. (Not that I'm admitting there's a problem!)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Why do I feel like I am covered in guacamole right now?

I'm sorry to have inadvertently started this debate, it certainly wasn't my intention. Also, just to clear up any confusion Tom or others might have had, the reason I asked about where Heroes was being discussed was not that I was unaware such discussion was going on. ON the contrary, after finally watching a few episodes, I assumed that it was exactly the kind of show that buffistas would discuss. I, on the other hand, had only recently seen enough of the show to join in the conversation. I have kept away from the tv talk for the past 3 years or so simply because I have watched almost nothing apart from TDS and a few kids' shows. I knew enough to know that most of it had been moved to other threads, but I wasn't sure what was being discussed where.

In short, my question was prompted not by some failing on the part of the board to provide me with the appropriate the tv-fueled conversation, but by my own fall from my former media junkie grace.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't think there's any guacamole in sight (because I ate it all). From the number of posts in Boxed Set recently, I think the discussion was probably due.

I see no guacamole on you anywhere, Burrell -- to me, it seems like a question we've nibbled at the edges of in various ways, and your post just prompted some thinking on it.

What is even happening?

There's no guac. This convo is pretty friendly, and not too many people seemed too married to any one right way.
