Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Still awaiting final wording.

I think the ballot needs to state that people are voting on the possibility of one thread. If most want a new thread at all, a runoff of the top 4 options across both questions will start after the first vote is counted.

I think that if we do a runoff, the runoff needs to have the option of no new thread.

I am very concerned that the structure of the vote (with all the different options) will allow for a thread to be created that a majority (over 50%) of the voters do not want. I do not think this would be a Good Thing, but YGTMV.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yep. I agree.

Okay, let me just cut and paste what Cindy did above.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

1. Should we have a new thread that covers Fall TV (covering new series that debut in September or October)?

a. No
b. Yes, with no whitefont at all. ever.
c. Whitefont (with show title in black font) for 7 days. Then fade to black.
d. Whitefont (with show title in black font) current season discussion.
e. Whitefont (with show title in black font) all the time.
f. Yes. I'm indifferent to whitefont rules.
g. No Opinion.

2. Should we have a new Natter TV thread (covering all tv series - new and continuing that aren't covered in separate threads)?

a. No
b. Yes, with no whitefont at all. ever.
c. Whitefont (with show title in black font) for 7 days. Then fade to black.
d. Whitefont (with show title in black font) current season discussion.
e. Whitefont (with show title in black font) all the time.
f. Yes. I'm indifferent to whitefont rules.
g. No Opinion.

There will be a runoff ballot of the various options above.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, I added an option to include those who want the thread, but couldn't care less about whitefont rules. I might be the only one who fits in this category.

What is even happening?

I think adding that option has the potential to further fracture the vote, le nubian. Part of the issue is that our voting isn't just structured so that the option with the most votes wins; an option has to get a simple majority (50% of the votes + 1 more vote) to win.

Maybe this is too complicated but...

What if we gave people the right to vote for more than one option? Then we could have a runoff between all the options, if any, that received more than 50% of the vote.

Hopefully, this would encourage people to vote for whichever options they found acceptable, rather than just their favorite option.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jon, okay. that would be fine with me.

Cindy, but I'm assuming we will have a runoff. The reason I included that line is that there wasn't really an option for me except "no opinion" which really doesn't reflect what I want.

What is even happening?

Okay. I think I was probably hoping that if enough people want the thread, enough will also want the same kind, which is probably completely silly of me, in the first place.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

After the results are in, if it won't kill anyone, I wouldn't mind having day or two discussion of how to word the runoff ballot.

le nubian, I think we'll only have a run-off if one of your options on the first ballot does not win by a simple majority. Wouldn't it just be between the top two options from the first ballot?
