I see it as a TV natter thread as well. I can forsee lots of the discussion being the merits of the new shows and what's good and what's not, etc. etc.
Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
so watch and post is whitefonted, but at 9:01 it's fair game? Is that useful?
Boxed Set: I actually don't think W-n-P is whitefonted anymore. Er, unless I'm making giant faux pas all the time and no one is telling me. Which I supose could happen. But - I used to whitefont during and for a few days, and then I thought whitefont was abolished for aired stuff. Which is kind of sad, but that's just me. Or, mostly me. I mean, 3 eps behind on BSG would still make it hard to go in, because the whitefont usually only lasted a day or so. Still.
Um, as to the proposal on the table. I don't know what I think yet. Though, two threads seems excessive. One TV Natter thread seems like a more managable concpet. To discuss. I have no idea how managable it would be in practice.

Well, except Sci-Fi Fridays (which is really what Boxed Set seems to have become, and maybe should be changed again to reflect that, but that's yet another separate issue....) is kind of its own thing.
Wuh? Oh, hell yeah. I'm not talking about making Boxed Set a general TV Natter Thread. Heavens no. I was only talking about Boxed Set for the whitefont issue. It was a tangent.
I'm saying - the proposal has two threads suggested. I think just the one thread would do for that. General TV. I still don't know how I feel about it, but, no, not talking about changing Boxed Set. ::hugs Boxed Set::
So, with either of these options we would continue to discuss TV shows that are neither new nor have their own thread in Natter. Right?

I don't white-font W&P in Boxed Set, either.
Yeah, no whitefonting W-n-P in Box Set because... well, if you want to be unspoiled and you started late, you won't come in to the thread until you've finished watching. And for West Coasters, it won't matter either way.
Boxed Set is pretty cosy for me right now because I'm watching every show that's being discussed, but the thread started off and remain kind of wacky and misshapen in terms of the functions it serves, especially for those who are watching some of the shows but not others. I like it anyway, because it's an oddball thread in an endearing way. Also, there is lateral pimping process going on, wherein a person who may have started only watching BSG decided to give SGA a try because other people on the thread are talking about it and what the hell, it's on the same channel just an hour earlier, etc.
Uhmm, I had a point there somewhere but seems to have lost it. Oh, right. No white-fonting during W-n-P.
I never use Boxed Set because I don't like wading through trying to find the discussions that pertain to the show(s) I watch. I suspect a general TV thread would end up causing the same frustration. Which means I will never use it.
Now that boxed set is pretty much just Sci-Fi Friday I tend to follow it. I'm a few weeks behind at the moment since I've just now caught up on watching though.
As for the Fall TV thread, I guess I envision it as more of a general discussion about the fall TV lineup and where it's all heading rather than show by show discussions in the thread. I mean, I'm sure that those talks will also happen, but I'm interested in it as a place to find out about new shows that I might not have otherwise tuned in to watch.
Neither thread, in my view, would cover continuing series.
So it would only be shows new this season? I don't understand that distinction.
I think untangling what gets posted where and when in terms of spoiling for X show if you want to discuss Y is going to be a nightmare and that alone means I'll vote against it.
Also, I'm not sure how a general TV thread makes it any MORE possible to have a sustained discussion about 1 show if you are consistently interrupted by posts about other shows.
So I guess that means, not surprisingly, I'm pretty strongly against it. If we are going the way of making mulitiple threads for TV shows (and I sorta see that we are), I'd rather have individual threads for individual shows because then at least it serves to have the sort of indepth navelgazey convos that people want.
