I don't give half a hump if you're innocent or not. So where does that put you?

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Don't worry, I'm not asking you to rehash your point, Sean.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Maybe not now (and please tell me if you think so), but I think it deserves saying, if not discussing. I've always been under the impression that we vote on procedural stuff, and try to censense the cultural stuff, if we can. I've always liked that not everything is spelled out in the rules. Call it relational, call it feminine, call it closer to the Earth, but I'd rather work with "Don't be an asshole" (realizing that definitions vary) than "don't do AAA, AAB, AAC...KBZ".

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Huh....

Let's see.

Hate sockpuppets because I think they are this weird thing that makes me not trust people I already don't know. I either assume they are someone's sockpuppet if they dive in and it makes me wonder about them.

Maybe the problem is I just don't find them funny. Which is, whatever. Luckily, I am in few places where I have to read them so in reality, even though I feel strongly and I'd vote against them, I don't give enough of a shit to force a vote.

Voting system? Enh. It works well enough. Which is not to say it's great, but this doesn't seem like it's the time or proposal with which to rail against the status quo.

Shutting the discussion within a handful of hours? Also have an issue with because lots of people don't spend all day mainlining the internet so to bring up something that does bother people, even if it not strongly and then say "We have conensus" and stop the convo is irritating.

Happily, like the last Big Discussion, this is one I actually care so little about.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think stopping the conversation made perfect sense. No one still here had anything to talk about, and a moment like that should be cherished across the land.

Killing the conversation, closing the thread, considering it all final?

I never got that sense.

But the bit where everyone who'd been hissing and spitting a few minutes ago were all looking warily yet peacefully at each other?

Quite pleasing.

Got to catch your breath sometime.

No worries, I'm still in a happy zen place. Om.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The day shift consensed. The night shift and the not-online-right-now folks? I would love to see their thoughts.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I'm still in a happy zen place.

Surrounded by swords. Best of all worlds, IMO.

Our wings are not tired

How odd, I was actually posting with the day shift.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I guess I'm nightshift now, or something. I feel the potential for abuse of sockpuppets was well covered by existing board etiquette rules and procedures, but given there are people who do get upset by them, I think Wolfram's proposal that their original ID appear in the profile is a fine idea. Plus, on a personal note, while they don't offend me, I am frequently curious as to who is behind the joke.

Plus, I think roast lamb is yummy, and Nando's is the One True Fast Food Chain. I have other thoughts too, but space and modesty prevents.

modesty prevents.

That's a crying shame.
