Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Well, for the record, I want deep spoilers about O.C., and don't about Lost. Lite, as defined, does nothing for me.
Nor does the regular spoiler thread, unless it's all whitefonty.
I'm beginning to believe that there are some of us who just can't be accomodated without specific show spoiler threads. Someone convince me otherwise.
(Whoa, did that sound snarky? I meant to include myself in that, and to state it as a fact that has become sort of apparent to me, not a loaded statement at all. But I'm too crazed at work to figure out how to reword instead of explaining.)
I'm beginning to believe that there are some of us who just can't be accomodated without specific show spoiler threads.
I think Gus and I might be accomodated with a whitefonted general deep spoiler thread.
I, however, will vote against it, because I don't need spoiler talk here enough to have three threads. I can get my stuff elsewhere.
Glad I'm not, you know, insane. ('Twas the Torez Spoiler that kicked it off, yes?)
No, that had it's own spoiler. I seem to dimly recall that it happened because the Pure as Snow didn't want a whiff of anything, and there was a middle ground where we read TV Guide, read interviews, but didn't seek out wildfeeds or script summary things.
So, in fact, casting of the sort that they didn't try to keep under wraps was ALWAYS considered Lite. The whitefont rules were "when in doubt, white it out!"
An example (whitefonted for NAFDA Smallville info) would be
they've cast (insert name here) as Lois Lane, and Margo Kidder will show up in at least one episode.
Of course, soon after its creation, I fell into the land of the hardcore.
No, not really, since she said "I propose" and "I propose." But that's neither here nor there.
Okay, I can continue on but I'm calling it a draw.
Now, I'm actually pretty confused and have no idea if my proposal would help the situation at all. I'm stymied. I really don't know what to do. I couldn't even begin to put a ballot together because I'm not sure what options would suit the most people.
You're under no obligation to continue with the current proposal. If you want, you can withdraw the proposal and people who want other specifics are free to re-propose accordingly. (I don't know if that's explicit in the voting rules, but there's certainly precedent.) Not that you have to do that either.
Actually, I think if the topic was noted in bold on a no-whitefont thread, I could skim past the stuff I don't want to read.
Before abandoning the proposal, it might be nice to have a poll to size up how many people are interested in a no-whitefont thread. My sense is
plenty,
but that is just a guess.
Okay, this is what I'd like to do. I'd like discussion to run through Sunday and then see.
I could have proposed no whitefont in Spoilers, but if I had wanted to do that, I would have just taken care of that in the Spoilers thread. I thought the addition of another thread would be the useful to the most people. See, I couldn't care less about whitefonting. It really doesn't bother me. But others feel a lot more passionately about it on either side and I figured the Spoilers Lite could solve those issues.
I would have just taken care of that in the Spoilers thread.
But then people would have more than 4 days to bitch and whine. This way, I have to shut up come Monday.
You know I'm never bringing a proposal to B'cracy ever again, right? :-)
Only the brave dare twice.
Hey -- does anyone know, easily, what the proposal leaderboard looks like? Anyone made more than one? Two?
What if we had a Lost spoiler thread that was hard-core and left the current one with white font for other shows?
Would enough people find this acceptable to make this a valid option on the ballot?
