Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I'd rather see each thread closing be a separate question.

I'd rather see each thread closing be a separate question.

The closing the new threads if the show is cancelled, or the closing of each of the Angel threads?

Moved from bureau:

(what I mean is - is there a way to defend the answer within the poll itself, or would a person have to come here to post their reason?)

It's a yes-or-no ballot, beathen. Lightbulbs is the place to lobby for your side.

The "unique and compelling reason" applies to the new threads, not the old ones -- e.g., if Lost is cancelled but we know it's going to be a movie and Furey is writing it, we may want to keep the thread going. The old threads I'm proposing archiving are a yes-no vote; if you don't want them archived, vote no.

But the way the ballot is written now, you can't say "I want a Lost thread, and I want to keep it forever no matter what." It seems to me that one of our problems WRT number of threads is that we haven't really been able to cull threads as they become irrelevant, both because of subcommunity status and because we never thought about how/when we would close the thread when we opened it. I want to prevent that with the threads I'm proposing.

Each Angel thread. Sorry I wasn't clear. As painful as past thread closings have been, I don't want to see people wanting one but not others and feeling stuck because they have to vote yea or nay on them as a package deal.

I see your point, and I'll separate them on the final ballot.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

What about repurposing Angel Spoilers as a Lost/OC spoilers thread. Or replacing Angel Spoilers with a new "general" spoilers thread. I don't read spoilers, but I know that someone will bring it up sooner or later.

Could I have written "spoilers" any more times? Spoilers spoilers spoilers.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Does a general spoilers thread work, though? I guess with a lot of whitefont it would be managable.

I had that thought, and I think it has been suggested. I have no problems with it if it's technically okay. Maybe the choice on Spoilers could be Close, Repurpose, or Keep As Is?

This, I love, and I somehow couldn't come up with the one simple sentence for it. Spoilers is a great and longstanding subcommunity, but it's one that depends on having material to spoil; we haven't had that in a while, but if the interest in these shows keeps up, the hos will be back at it. (Please? Be back at it? I'm dying for spoils and I don't even watch any of these shows!)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Assuming people do vote to open the threads, what time frame are you thinking for opening them? The OC doesn't start for a few weeks yet, and I still think it is too early for a Lost thread, since we are only 4 eps in.

If we do open up spoiler threads for the new shows, I think there should be one for each show.
