Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Is there any chance that our quotes would end up in a publication of any kind, like an academic journal of linguistics or anything? I ask because it'd make a difference whether I opt in or not. I'm fine with one or a dozen random researchers reading about how my relationship history influences my reading of Buffy's in the show threads, or all my gripes about work in Natter. I'm not sure I'd feel the same about my posts being quoted in a journal and read by lots of people in the field.

Which is stupid of me, because of course ANYBODY could find this completely public forum and who knows how many lurkers know all about me, but there it is.

Our wings are not tired.

I think erinaceous just wants to put us in a lab and do experiments on us.

She does have a rather Fred vibe. Do the AtS writers know her?

I'm verra fond of my user number so that would be shiny.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

who knows how many lurkers know all about me

Knowing the world of academic journal publishing, probably far more than would ever read about you through journal articles.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

Is there any chance that our quotes would end up in a publication of any kind, like an academic journal of linguistics or anything?

This is possible, although not incredibly likely. It would be probably a computational or corpus linguistics journal, and would most likely show up as a Key Word In Context, or KWIC. So if the word was 'foamy,' for example, 'foamy' would show up in the middle of fewer than twenty words, like this:

and Legolas is incredibly foamy, and now PERSONAL NAME's going to kill me with her pinky finger

I can't imagine that there would be any more context than that. There would probably be at least five and maybe as many as thirty OTHER 'foamy' quotes around yours, as well.

edited to show anonymizing ...

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Would Legolas need to opt in?

Yeah, true.

And thanks, erin.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

erinaceous, that's the ONE context you can keep my name in for.

eta: though now I'm trying to imagine true anonymity, which would require MARTIAL ART NAME all over the place, and it's making me laugh.

Hee. No, fictional characters will be included without any effort on their part. I'll have to ask what they do about that, though!

If I only had a brain...

and MARTIAL ARTS NAME had TRADEMARKED ELF NAME bent backwards over the TRADEMARKED LOUNGE CHAIR NAME when...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

and Legolas is incredibly foamy, and now PERSONAL NAME's going to kill me with her pinky finger

The PERSONAL NAME change will unforunately eliminate the possibility of "Nilly" entering the language as a verb. Ditto with "meara" and "mejia" and "anya."
