Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Due South/Smallville/IKEA/Farscape/ would be hilarious.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Why Ikea? Is there some significance to it other than it's fun to say for some people?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Of course, I'm picturing HoYaytastic natter interspersed with "So...is this where I post a question about my ELLNE desk chair?"

It's a semi-pun on "Fannish TV" which sounds like "Finnish TV" which is close enough to Swedish to remind someone (Kat? Katie?) of IKEA.

Which is just kind of stream-of-consciousness humour that appeals to me.

Well, rats. It was such a good proposal up to that point, too...

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

Previously is an important hang out for UnAmericans, like me (it's where I first found Buffy discussion at a higher level than 'Spike iz cool' 'No, Spik suX'. I want to keep it; I'm perfectly happy to have Angel in there as well. The main Buffy thread... I don't know. Residual hang-up about spoilers, or something; plus not knowing the community there. I don't read it often, and when I do I find skipping the natter annoying. Which is odd. And rambly. Sorry.)

Plei is right-- rename Bitchy Fic (or don't: are there any PPO posters who are unhappy to be included as Bitches?) rather than opening new thread.

Edit: and while of those three, SV's the only one I'm interested in, including IKEA in the title will keep me reading the thread, I suspect.

Nobody

I ask this, because I was for that item as it was originally proposed, but not as it is now written. At this point, while we are still testing to see if certain coding changes will improve things, I don't think we should be closing up busy threads. And Previously will become busy once we have both new and old eps of Angel running.

But it's going to be Angel discussion (and Buffy) and we have Angel and Buffy show threads. Although they too are busy, there is a forum for this. How can we streamline with duplication? Old stuff has never been off-topic in the show threads.

Besides the point Jon's points about it, one of the reasons we separated the Previously threads from the main Buffy thread was so that UnAmericans could take part in the discussions of the old episodes. They won't be able to do that if it's folded into Angel.

This is true, but Americans don't have to go through Customs to get into the UnAmerican thread.

Kat -- I like Preliminary Ballot 4.0 Did you see Plei's point about rolling the fic threads into Bitchy Fic? It's: P.M. Marcontell "Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!" Aug 21, 2003 11:37:16 am PDT

Also? I know you're anti-hobbit, but any thoughts on adding an item asking Buffistas about rolling LotR into the Movies thread? When things are talked out, we still end up talking there. In other words, it's a hidden Natter haven. People should be warned that LotR talk will swamp the Movies thread when the TTT DVDs come out (by the end of this month) and when RotK is released in November. Still? When we're trying to streamline, it seems rather gluttonous to have a thread for one finite work, 3-parted or not.

Will you be putting an item on addressing Sang Sacre too? Or is it too little, and too fun to touch?

eta...

The only change I'd request is sneaking in the Ikea thread name for due South/Smallville.

We should entitle the thread Smallville/due South/Farscape, and name the first one Ikea.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

(Kat? Katie?) of IKEA.

Kat. Kat-Kat, not kat perez-kat. (Okay, someone's clearly going to have to change their name to Gertrude. Not it!)

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

This is true, but Americans don't have to go through Customs to get into the UnAmerican thread.

unAmerican discussion often veers wildly from Angel and Buffy.
