I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Why do you think it'd be more so than the Due South thread is currently? Because it'd be better-publicized?

Yep. Because I had no idea the Due South thread was anything but Due South until yesterday.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Okay, that makes sense.

Thrive to spite them

In Due South, the talk keeps coming back to the subtext. If you just made it "Genre TV" or something like that then it would change what would be discussed. If it's Genre then why not put Farscape in there even though it's been said that Farscape discussion different.

I thought that was the idea -- do away with Due South, Smallville, and Farscape and replace them with one Genre TV thread.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Honestly, as someone who posts in the Farscape thread, we could get rid of it and just absorb any Farscape posts into Natter. Because at this point in time, there are very few posts.

I doubt the folks who talk about subtext in Due South will stop talking about subtext because of a different thread title, though.

Actually, I'm okay with this, too. (We Farscape folk seem to be very accomodating), as there is so little discussion going on.

I would very much like a Sci-Fi TV thread, or something of the sort, so I can go talk about Farscape and any other Sci-Fi TV that I find worth discussing, but it's neither vital to my enjoyment of the board, nor an issue that I feel needs to be addressed right this moment (aside from our need to clean up the place).

move out and draw fire

I have to say that while I love Due South, I don't see how it's "genre"...unless the genre is shows about Mounties. So it looks to me like we've argued back to a General TV thread.

What are the non-ME shows that get the most board discussion? To me, they seem to be Stargate, Farscape, Smallville, Due South, TAR, and The OC.

Which non-ME shows are likely to get the most discussion come October (since after all, we are planning ahead here)? I'm thinking all of the above (tho Farscape will probably stay about the same in volume of posts, as will Due South), Alias, Battlestar Gallactica, and whatever ME shows don't get pushed back to mid-season replacement.

Then there's random stuff like Monster House and Discovery Channel shows, but those can stay in Natter or in the IKEA thread or whatever.

But right now, three of those of have dedicated threads that are very low volume. TAR and The OC receive a couple of handfuls of posts each night of broadcast or immediately after.

Two people have said that closing the thread they are in, while sad making, and having that conversation move to natter in the interim, while we wait to see how tech issues shake out, might be fine. What about Due South and Smallville (sob!)?

Could we close and archive those threads, take conversation elsewhere in the mean time while we wait to see what happens?

Or, we can somehow combine those three threads.

Or we can leave things as they are.

Those seem to be the options. What do you all think?

Losing the Due South thread would make me sad.
