Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Ann, that's a ferret.

We've been saying since May that we need to restructure now that there's no more new Buffy. But there hasn't been any real discussion of what to do. Based on Kristen's comments, techno-not-really-literate I assume that restructuring now, especially if we add attractive new threads, could wreak havoc on the board.

I'm suggesting that we use this time to figure out what we really want to do and where we want the board to go.

IOW, my answer to

I admit, I just feel like since May (in fact, since we knew there would be no S8), we've been saying "we have to redo the thread hierarchy now that Buffy's off the air," and since May, it's been put off until August. Now we're saying that for technical reasons, it should wait until October.

is, let's start planning now with a target completion date in mind.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

It does begin to sound to me like we need a dedicated server

Right now, we don't know if it's a coding issue, or if our usage is really too high for a shared server.

Until we know one way or another, I agree that we should table this proposal.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Except that Angel's about to go into syndication, and I think people were expecting to use Previously for that.

Thank you. To be honest, the whole option of bumping Previously ticks me off a little. I mean, sure, always been a Buffy and Prev thread. But that hasn't stopped discussion in either thread. Prev is a syndication thread, and there's no reason to make it just Angel discussion. The entire point of it is to discuss already aired non-NAFDA episodes, and as both Angel and Buffy fit into the category now, I'd think that it would be more prudent to keep it, as it's functionality will certainly not suffer.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hasn't all of Australia seen the finale now?

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Yes, I believe so.

Nobody

What do you mean by 'bumping'? I've seen the suggestion that it be broadened to include Angel. I've seen in past discussions the suggestion that it be rolled up into Buffy, but I don't think that was supposed to be a slight to Angel syndication, but rather probably came out of people forgetting it was going to be syndicated and that there'd be a need for it.

Not javachik

I will contribute to a dedicated server. Just tell me to whom to mail a check.

Katie M, re TAR, yes, I do, thank you! But, then I found out from Kat Perez this AM that no one was eliminated last week, so I plan to make do with a summary or two found elsewhere. It looks like the last show this week is only 1 hour, which puzzles me. I'd have thought it would longer. No? (This it the first TAR I've ever watched.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

In the past, they've done 2-hour finales (since the 2nd to last leg is always nonelimination), but this year I think they wanted to stretch it out an extra week.

"People get stressed with each other. Also, a scary and/or disgusting task is performed."

(I haven't actually watched it yet, which is why I still had it around...)

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Java, the last TAR is up now at TWOP if you're looking for a good summary.

End of TAR Natter. We now return you to your regularly scheduled voting discussion.

On that subject, I would not be for a general TV thread because I wouldn't want to wade through it looking for posts about the one or two shows I might want to talk about scattered in with millions of posts about shows which I have no interest in. That's why I like seeing TAR or OC or whatever posts in Natter. They're usually up on the night of/day following the shows' airing and I can choose to read or skip as I see fit. Of course, I don't find white font annoying and wasn't aware that some people were so bothered by it until I started reading in Bureaucracy. Sorry to those that are bugged by it (I know I'm one of the worst offenders with my TAR posts) but I, for one, would probably not even bother with a general TV thread. I might be able to get behind the groupings someone mentioned above (Hoyay/Reality/etc.) but it seems like that would cause even more board traffic problems and lead to even more fragmentation of the board into subcommunities. So, I'm pretty much against a TV thread.
