No, I just meant that they are the ones who have a bigger choice on being unspoiled over the REALLY big stuff, so I think it's most unfair to them. Like you said, Pin has to jump through his own hoops to avoid this stuff (and you skip the credits, not something everyone has the luxury of - granted if they can just ignore, it helps). The UnAms have the path of least resistance for this stuff, I think.

Laura, I think whitefonting is very easy. So is reading it, especially if you have the wrong idea about what's being hidden.

I'm Canadian. Stations buy the shows from FOX and it has nothing to do with UPN or the WB. It's why we got Buffy a day early. It's why we get no promos.

We're voting on if we can discuss the casting stuff in a NAFTA thread. By definition it's a spoiler for the unAms. It's not unfair to them at all.

I've already mentioned that I don't think badly of those who wish to remain totally spoiler free, but I want to bring it up again because the following question may seem confrontational, and it's not inteded to be. Like Katie, I'm genuinely curious.

Why are you casting spoiler averse?

I ask because from my perspective, it seems really unimportant. Even in the examples ita gave, of both real and hypothetical changes, and even with added detail like knowing how many episodes are left in an actor's contract, I didn't feel like I had received any kind of information that would remove pleasure from my viewing experience.

Does it take enjoyment out of watching it?

Are there spoilers that bother you, Sean? I think that's the key -- I just imagine that Elena and Pin are as bothered by a promo as I would be by knowing that a Scoob died in AR. Just like I can imagine people (including the WB promo department) saying "But that just heightens the excitement! You don't know which one!".

When I didn't notice JL's name in the credits for AtS (or maybe they weren't there) and she showed up to vamp Darla the HSQ was through the roof. If I had known she was going to appear I would have spent the entire episode waiting for it.

I wish I hadn't known about the appearance of certain characters in Buffy and Angel this year. It would have been better had I not been waiting for it. Because if the writers didn't want it to be a surprise, why do they set it up as one? They don't have Lindsey saying 'Yeah, called Dru' - they just have her show up. Because it heightens the drama of the moment.

I wouldn't care if I'd read the script a hundred times over, and had in fact been on set every day of production, it would in no way ruin my enjoyment of watching an episode.

But yeah, I guess that is just me.

The feeling of surprise doesn't add to or alter your experience of fiction? I think a good show holds up after the HSQ and is rewatchable. Doesn't mean it can't be more fun with it.

And to be sure, the HSQ is much different depending on when and how you encounter it. Working on a production, I would get the HSQ reading the script for the first time, but that thrill is much different than being surprised by it unfolding on the screen.

As a show I'm just watching, I'd prefer not to know beforehand that JL was going to show up and vamp Darla, so I totally get that. But y'all have enlightened me.
