"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Awwww, I drove to Matilda's school to pick up her ceramics projects, and had a troika of brief, sweet encounters.

I got to talk her ceramics teacher, Ms. Stuart as she helped bring Matilda's work out. Got a hug from her and thanked her.

Then Coach Johnson (Matilda's baseball coach) came out, called my name and waved to me. He had come to the Memorial.

And then just as I was about to get into the car, I heard a voice yelling "Matilda's Dad! Matilda's Dad!" and it was Malia - one of the girls we took in when they were homeless - at the top of the steps waving to me. And she said, "I just wanted to thank you! You saved us!"

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Thank you! One of my meetings did get cancelled, and then a meeting got added. Que sera sera. I'm just happy to be home where all of my stuff is.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Graduation day! What kind of weapon is she packing?

Ugh why am I so freaking tired today? I went to bed on time but could NOT get up this morning and still am dying to go back to sleep (…I’ve only been up for like 45’min, and only because I had an 8am work meeting). My head kinda hurts so it may be that. Which implies to me that it IS the work stress/lack thereof which has been making my migraines worse/better (I only had one during my month long vacation last year, as opposed to 4-6/month usually, and then only had like 2 in March/April when work was super slow)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hope your head eases up, meara.

I woke up with a headache the other day and it took coffee, two glasses of water, Tylenol and a hot shower to get out from under it. Unpleasant start to the day.

All is quiet here the day after graduation. Matilda is sleeping downstairs in the Garden Apartment.

Friday morning we fly down to LA for our weekend getaway.

But today the only Action Item on my agenda is contacting my CPA.

It's gorgeous out and I wish I could run but the stadium is still closed for another round of graduations, including the one for Matilda's beau.

I'll just get my steps in though, and I think my bookstore friend, Eleanor, is back from her honeymoon in Bali. So that'll be nice to see her.

Friday morning we fly down to LA for our weekend getaway.

Fun!

But today the only Action Item on my agenda is contacting my CPA.

Not as fun.

Eleanor, is back from her honeymoon in Bali

Back to fun!

I have an orthodontist consultation today (I failed at Invisalign). Then I have dinner tonight w/ three of my favorite people -- we all used to work together at a law firm when we were babies, and we've stayed in touch and celebrated each other's birthdays with dinners and such.
