"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just trying to fit all I can into the month of September. Maybe I'll get scurvy next.

Unlikely. You need limes for guacamole, and we all need guacamole to live.

Trust me, I don't. I love it, but it does not love me back. (One strange thing I shared with Jacqueline, iirc. being...oil-crossed with avocado.) ETA: in other star-crossed news, hey, Karl. No oil there, either. So far.

You know, I haven’t had guacamole in a while. Maybe that’s the root of my problems.

Mmmmmm, guacamole.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Wishing you easy fixes to your tooth problem, Steph.

Happy Birthday, flea!

The other night I ran across the new-to-me music comedy YouTube channel The Key of Awesome, about a decade and change late: [link]

It has lots of fun musical parodies that I stayed up way too late watching. Though they came with a price—their parody of "One Thing" resulted in the horrifying discovery that I like a One Direction song.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope the tooth stuff gets fixed quickly and painlessly, Steph.

I got my COVID and flu vaccinations today. I’m 99.7% sure it’s psychosomatic, but I generally feel loggy after getting my shots. Eh, I had nothing else major to do today.

Happy flea day!

Cereal post (Cheerios!):

Mwa-haha-ha! First Ellery Queen, then ... THE WORLD!

Erika, I do a pretty good hench, if I do say so myself. Let me know if you need a minion.

(Seriously, congratulations -- it's well-deserved.)

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

It is finally cool enough outside that I can comfortably open my sliding glass door and close the screen door. This means that I can now hear their chirps and their humming wings as the hummingbirds come and go from the feeder. So delightful.

What's weird is that there's been zero pain, even when it broke. The main reason I went to the emergency dentist was to see if it could wait to be treated by my regular dentist (who of course is off on the weekend), or if it was such a Tooth Emergency that it needed to be treated today, do not pass go, no waiting. The Emergency Dentist (who looked unnervingly like a young Cillian Murphy) said it can wait for my regular dentist to treat it, as long as the wait isn't like a month. And my regular dentist is good about making time for last-minute appointments, so I'll call first thing Monday.

I feel like it was Ginger who always commiserated about dental woes, and the way that sometimes, even when you take care of them, your teeth are like chalk. My dental grumbling is in her memory tonight.

Even when they are strong, teeth are still a challenge. (Gums are needy, too. They are totally the tooth's partner that wants to know what they are thinking all day.) Yeah, that particular piece of sudden success took about seven years. Maybe more, if you counted how long I've been writing some of those characters. I'm not *totally* sure I'd be up to take over the world, Karl. For one thing, I haven't got a wheelbarrow, firecrackers, and Carmen Electra.(/Pinky and The Brain) OTOH, couldn't be worse than some of those who really got the gig. Right?
