"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy birthday, lisah!

EM cancelled her Tuesday morning visit, so I'm going to have to muster the executive function to pay my bills, send emails and clean the Guinea Pig cage by myself.

In good news, a friend I've been trying to get to visit for more than a year finally got clearance from her job for a long weekend and she'll be out to visit in two weeks. Very excited about that.

I've had a good streak of socializing and uh, how would one say..."leveling up" of friendships lately. One occasional friend (4 times a year) turning into more of a monthly get together. Have tentative plans to socialize with my one-on-one Pilates instructor (the self described "queer glamazon). And my friend I see twice a week (the woman who's painting my back stairs) and I had a lovely, connecting talk on Sunday.

Takes some of the edge off my extremely empty nest. I posted a picture on FB last week of an old picture of the whole fam at an ice skating rink in Reno - me, JZ, Emmett and Matilda. And what I thought but didn't write was: "I used to make breakfast for four every morning, and now....I do not."

Always Anti-fascist!

It's probably better not to write that, Hecubus. But some of your nestlings will be back sometimes.(Bet my mother wishes, although she ended up in my nest, instead, that things had emptied out a little bit more. I know I do, at least sometimes.)

Thrive to spite them

Much love to your family Plei and to your mom Erika.

I'm sorry about the empty nest Hec but I'm glad you are reconnecting.

I'm being very adult and after 2 years I have a dental appointment. I kept getting sick when I had scheduled my appointment and had to reschedule. And then hurricane happened and I drive back to Brevard. Because so far every single person I've talked to has been like "we are so glad to see you , we are glad you came in" and no shame.

The non adult thing I did was go to the toy store with M and I got some mini winnie unicorn blind bags, squeed over these really cute stuffed animals and a miniature DiY unicorn terrarium kit.

Now im not getting my teeth cleaned today because I need a deep scaling thing done.. but they are of course really nice about it

Also Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. We were walking from where we are lunch to the toy store and I saw the news on my phone and told M the news. A guy who was sitting on a bench laughed and said what ? So i told him and he was like " good for them!"

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am pleased for Taylor and Travis, they seem like nice young people, but I think it's a little odd that NYT sent me a "Breaking News" email about it
