Lorne: Snakes? Uh-huh. And they came out of your what? Okay. Okay, well, did they get up there themselves or is this part of a, you know, a thing? No, I'm not judging...Do we fight snakes? Angel: Only if they're giant. Or demons. Or giant demons. Are they giant demon snakes? Lorne: Well, unless this guy's 30 feet tall, I'm thinking they're of the garden variety.

Our wings are not tired.

Woot! Double digits!

Laura, no, mourning isn't easy, but I wish I could be less stuck in feeling bad about stuff from decades ago.

Nope, no time schedule on it either.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

4th grade. We kept her in preschool an extra year because of Covid.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Can't help wishing I were further along or something, though.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Sign of summer -- the cicadas are very loud this evening.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I love that sound. The nighttime summer soundtrack of my childhood was cicadas, bullfrogs in the creek, the a/c unit humming around the side of the house, the hum in a different key of the pool filter running, and (sometimes) a transistor radio playing late 70s/early 80s top 40 music (I’m particularly remembering “Bette Davis Eyes” for some reason).

I don’t really miss cicadas but they are definitely the sound of summer for me even though I never hear them out here

Our wings are not tired.

We don't have cicadas where I live, north or south, but we stayed in Macon GA on the way drive north this year, and they were amazingly loud. I'd only heard them a couple times previously. Very cool. And Loud!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We had cicadas in NC, but I haven’t heard them here in MI. Lots of fireflies though.

Taking care terminally ill loved ones is so hard. Dad was furious at his father for remarrying so soon after grandma died, and to her worst rival, to boot. But she took such good care of grandpa at the end, and we were hundreds of miles away. So we ended up very grateful to her (albeit grudgingly, in Dad’s case).

I’m sorry your life’s gotten so canceriffic, Steph. But I’m glad about the good news on the viral front.

I’m starting my second full week of being unemployed. Can’t say I’m a fan. I have had about a 10% interview-to-application return, which is pretty good. And three of the outstanding applications look like they’d would be really cool jobs. (Two remote and one in Ann Arbor—I’d definitely have to check in with our Ypsilanti Empress if that came through.) So any spare job~ma would be appreciated, please.
