Happy Birthday, Empress!

Happy Empress Day!
UPS delivered my first month of Zepbound today, so my first shot is going to be tomorrow. I'm very interested in the non–weight-related effects, like improving sleep apnea (Tim has reliably informed me that anyone who snores the way I do surely has sleep apnea) and reducing inflammation. But yeah, the primary goal is to lose weight. My hip will thank me. I also think it's a good idea to head into the back half of my 50s somewhat lighter than I am now. Plus, I am vain, and I won't hate fitting into a smaller size.

My focus was definitely on getting leaner as I'm getting older, so it was always a combo strategy with Pilates and Ozempic. Really wanted a stronger core, more flexibility, but also just wanting to create a much leaner physique for aging.
But it's great fitting into clothes I had outgrown, and buying new clothes in smaller sizes.
Feel free to ping me about any questions. I'm not sure how different Zepbound is from Ozempic, but I expect you'll be wrangling with the same issues.

I'm frustrated because there's not much exercise I can do while my hip pain is still so bad. I look forward to starting PT on the 19th.

Exercise is a long game. It doesn't do much for weight loss, and as the weight comes off you should be able to give your hips a break.
When I started Pilates I couldn't do shit. I was six weeks in before I was able to reach a new plateau of capacity.
The epiphany was something like "Oooh, I can use my lower abdominal muscle now to grab my fat and roll over it."

That's very true -- but it's so important for stamina and strength. My mom turned 79 this year and she and my stepdad went to Spain and Portugal for 2 weeks. I definitely want to have that kind of physical capacity when I'm 79. Or 59. And exercise is the way to get there and maintain it. So, losing some weight, throwing PT at my hip, and getting back to exercising without pain.

That's pretty badass.

I visualized it as my bellyfat going through an old fashioned laundry wringer.
Why are there loud fireworks (that I can’t see)?? Doggo is very not happy about it.

My ortho won't permit any weight-bearing exercise for my hips, but I have a full hour of PT that I do every other day that includes the bike for 10 minutes, then a whole bunch of lower body stretches. I do the arm and core machines on alternating days. It surely doesn't help with weight loss as it increases appetite. However, the improvement in stamina and mobility is noticeable. I am still 50 pounds away from being able to do any distance walking on the crap hip, but the shots are helping with that part.
