All the hugs in the world to (((Steph))).

Today was the nicest day of the summer we’ve had in NYC.
Man, when the heat — and especially the humidity — lets up, it's like you've been dropped into one of the good parallel universes!
Here's my onerous to-do list for this week that I'm posting here for accountability
That onerous list is all stuff I need to tackle basically starting tomorrow. But today I have onerously:
Washed all the dishes (both sides full)
Made copycat Starbuck's egg bites for breakfasts this week
Made my chicken/bean/corn/tomato concoction for my lunches this week
Rearranged some shit in the pantry that's been needing to be rearranged for a while
Changed the sheets
Sent up the BatNunsignal* to ask my nun friend (and, by extension, the other sisters in her order) to pray for Tim's PET scan (happening Tuesday) being as good as possible
*(The Nunsignal is just an email. It's daytime so an actual Nunsignal wouldn't be effective at all.)
Now I may need a cocktail.
Hmm, what would the Nunsignal look like? A ruler smacking the back of a hand?
Yesterday I drove down to Little Rock with my mom for the grand opening of my cousin's bookstore: [link]
We got to visit with her and my other cousin who showed up for support, and get a tour of the shop. The highlight was the incredibly cute study/reading room whose entrance is made to look like you're entering the wardrobe from Lewis' Narnia books (complete with a curtain of hanging fur stoles you have to push your way through). I also finally got to take Mom to dinner at The Terrace, a tiny Greek fine dining restaurant in a bank building which is the only place I know of in the South with good saganaki (great, really). The weather was perfect both for outdoor dining and the drive down and back.

I was picturing a halo, but the ruler does make more sense.

That sounds delightful!
The Nunsignal (okay, email) was answered! Sr. E. said she would ask the other sisters to pray for Tim as well, and I suddenly pictured the lighting of the beacons in RotK.
And your cousins bookstore sounds fun, Matt! Always glad to hear of bookstores existing, really, but I like the cut of that one's jib
Love that imagery, Steph!
You hand a bookstore in the family -- that's so cool, Matt.
I knew all the GD anniversary stuff was going on but I completely forgot about it when I was trying to figure out why Amtrak was announcing changes to the schedule affecting Levi Stadium. That explains a lot (did not affect me at all, it was always trains I was not taking or stations further on down the line than I was going but I was very curious. Still curious about the one that mentioned it was "due to an investigation" but I am pretty much resigned to never knowing what that's about)

Your theme song today is Roxy Music's "Always Unknowing": [link]
Glorious day in SF much welcome after all the foggy days.
Did my morning Pilates which I do not look forward to, but always feel better for having done.
My contractor swung by this morning and removed the dangerous dangling piece of corroded iron from my decorative balcony, so that's one less head trauma to worry about it. I have to take both balconies down - which I'd been postponing until I found a replacement.
Lunch: Fage single serving yogurt with honey, with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and walnuts. Pretty fuckin' yum!
Ozempic report: finally broke though a weight plateau I'd been stuck on for a month by upping my dosage and being super strict with my diet. Down 30 lbs since April.
Good progress on all fronts, David. Nice!
DH's company is changing insurance carriers (fom United Healthcare to Cigna -- my personal experience with Cigna has been good, and I won't miss UH), so I'm waiting until Sept. 1 to have my doctor try for Wegovy. But I see her this week for annual wellness, so we'll talk about it then. They're coverage year starts in September for some reason. Fine by me.
