Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I've just skimmed through 100+ messages...so, Happy Birthday, Shir!

Also health~ma to all who need it, especially Tim. And, as always, fuck cancer!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Here's my onerous to-do list for this week that I'm posting here for accountability:

Make PT appointment for my defiant bad hip
Make mammogram appointment
Make colonoscopy appointment
Message OB/GYN (Tim's cancer is HPV positive, and I may need to be tested)
Follow up with PCP about Zepbound
Make haircut appointment
Continue to try super hard not to freak out

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Here's my onerous to-do list for this week that I'm posting here for accountability:

Phew, that's a lot. Can you put off the mammogram for a week or two?

Continue to try super hard not to freak out

Jacqueline used to reference herself in the way that The Tick's addressed Arthur ("You're an anxious little dude.")

She would just announce it with flat finality: "I am an anxious little dude."

Sun finally came out! Fuckin' yay!

Filthy hippies all strewn about Haight Street for the stupid Dead and Company shows. Literally, they are very dirty, smoking nonstop, notably stupid (as evidenced by every damn thing they say) and they are leaving trash everywhere.

Mostly I just want to get it scheduled. I can schedule it for a couple-few weeks out. Same with the colonoscopy.

She would just announce it with flat finality: "I am an anxious little dude."

That's super accurate for me. One uber-anxious little dude.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

All the hugs in the world to (((Steph))).

Today was the nicest day of the summer we’ve had in NYC. I went and shot 2 rolls of film. 14K steps.

Also, this happened up the street from me this morning (no one was hurt).

That is quite a lot of adulting there. Get 'er done ~ma.

Yay for beautiful summer days! And yikes on the linky!! You have to wonder how many structures are unstable.

My son is all moved in. He shaved his very long beard into just a bit of short stash and goatee. It looks nice. His hair is longer than mine, not to mention thicker and prettier. Now we need to find something affordable for him in Florida. Not an easy task. Everything I find is a room in someone's house. We have three months to figure it out, but October isn't the best time to find something when everyone is heading south.

In a blast from the past Buffista birthday news, today is Deena's birthday.

Today was the nicest day of the summer we’ve had in NYC.

Man, when the heat — and especially the humidity — lets up, it's like you've been dropped into one of the good parallel universes!

Here's my onerous to-do list for this week that I'm posting here for accountability

That onerous list is all stuff I need to tackle basically starting tomorrow. But today I have onerously:

Washed all the dishes (both sides full)
Made copycat Starbuck's egg bites for breakfasts this week
Made my chicken/bean/corn/tomato concoction for my lunches this week
Rearranged some shit in the pantry that's been needing to be rearranged for a while
Changed the sheets
Sent up the BatNunsignal* to ask my nun friend (and, by extension, the other sisters in her order) to pray for Tim's PET scan (happening Tuesday) being as good as possible

*(The Nunsignal is just an email. It's daytime so an actual Nunsignal wouldn't be effective at all.)

Now I may need a cocktail.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Hmm, what would the Nunsignal look like? A ruler smacking the back of a hand?

Yesterday I drove down to Little Rock with my mom for the grand opening of my cousin's bookstore: [link]

We got to visit with her and my other cousin who showed up for support, and get a tour of the shop. The highlight was the incredibly cute study/reading room whose entrance is made to look like you're entering the wardrobe from Lewis' Narnia books (complete with a curtain of hanging fur stoles you have to push your way through). I also finally got to take Mom to dinner at The Terrace, a tiny Greek fine dining restaurant in a bank building which is the only place I know of in the South with good saganaki (great, really). The weather was perfect both for outdoor dining and the drive down and back.

I was picturing a halo, but the ruler does make more sense.

That sounds delightful!
