Punishingly Intricate

That is too much, Laura!!! You need to take care of YOU.

(Tbh, I may have reacted like your MIL if someone made me be outside for HOURS in Florida at the end of July, I’m sorry but that’s insane!)

Our wings are not tired.

I'm guessing there were maybe 70 people there, many in their 80s, probably some in their 90s. Yes, it was hot, but it was completely shaded with a steady breeze. The misting fans were nice. Plenty of cold beverages. The younger people who were running around playing with kids and such were drenched, but those of us who were just socializing were fine. The big issue was that she screamed like a toddler when she had been repeatedly given options. It would have taken someone two hours to drive her home and return.

eta: We had already been there for over two hours before MIL and that bunch even arrived.

I wasn't home, but a bunch of family went to my place to go to the beach, and MIL actually went and ate lunch with them outside at the beachfront restaurant. They were just packing up when I got home, and MIL said several times what a beautiful day it was. Of course, she didn't go to the beach, because it was too hot for that nonsense. I had told the out-of-town visitors that they were welcome to visit my place and use the beach facilities, but even if I got back in time, going to the beach in the summer wasn't my thing.

That all sounds very frustrating Laura!!

Good luck sj.

I am trying to figure out why I was doing pretty well in regards to migraines and only had 1-2 in June…and then have had 7 in July. Thankfully I have plenty of meds, which means I can usually knock them out after a couple hours, but it’s not pleasant or fun. And I don’t know what I’ve done or changed to suddenly have so many!!

Oh, gosh, sending all the health ~ma your stepdad's way and calm ~ma to you, sj.

Laura, that is wild -- is that typical behavior for her? I don't even have the energy to throw a sustained tantrum, and I imagine she's got a few decades on me. Yikes. Hope you've been able to take a break from all family agita today. It's a lot.

Our wings are not tired.

Screaming hysterically at her children is a relatively recent behavior. She refuses to address any of her fixable issues, and her kids are growing tired of it. At this point, they almost always let her leave a message and call her back when they can get comfy and listen to the rants. She is going to end up living with one of us, or in assisted living, but she refuses to take care of herself, and insists she would never consent to living with her kids. Parents!

Continuing to send recovery vibes, and calming vibes your way, sj.
