That sounds like a very good day! I am not sure whether I am jealous of having a bookstore in the neighborhood or relieved that I do not. Although when we first moved here there was a little used bookstore within walking distance and I was *very* excited about that! But they went online only and then completely closed not long after we arrived. Sad.
There is a bookstore just a few blocks from work and I still have not made it there. When I'm at work, or leaving work, I'm either too busy or too tired for checking out a bookstore to be feasible. I tried to go on a Saturday once but there was other stuff going on in the area and parking was too hard to come by. They are assigned to get the benefit when I buy audiobooks from Libro, though. I just assume that if I ever actually visited I would like them enough for that. I have a different indy bookstore in another town that's on the way to my parents' house that gets the benefit of my Bookshop e-book purchases. I have been to that one, and it's cool, Still a little too far away for me to just drop in for no reason, sadly. All that is right near here is a Barnes and Noble that I honestly forget is there most of the time and it's a short drive but too far to walk and the bus would require a transfer so would take a long time. The library could be walking distance if I wanted to spend enough time walking...
(eta that was Teppy's t]day I was responding to but Jen's day sounds very good too! Yay interview!
Hopefully I'll one day make a habit of browsing through B&N and local bookstores again. Right now I'm trying to retrain my brain by reading short story collections from the library. Quick video clips on YouTube have drastically reduced my attention span for entertainment at home and I'd like to reclaim it (though I can at least still focus when I see movies at the theater).
I met most of my friends here through the bookstore in our neighborhood (& they are basically why I met my husband). Go, Neighborhood Bookstores!
Ugh I was just getting ready for bed and they canceled my flight tomorrow claiming weather. Rebooked on the same flight Friday instead. Which is fine I guess. But annoying.

Tell me more about this. I rarely read a physical book anymore, but I do audio and e-books only. There is a lovely indy bookstore near my son's place where they cuddle with the house cats, and the kids have made it a second home. I want to set up a system that allows them to benefit from my purchases. I didn't know it was an option.
Sending out joyous birthday wishes into the Buffista ether to Juliana. May you feel the love and know that you are wished a wonderful day, followed by a year of delights.

Bookshop.org for physical books and e-books (there's an app where you can access your library of e-books that has a built in reader that I quite like)
Libro.fm for audiobooks, listen in the app, has a monthly credit subscription sort of deal
On both of them you can choose a bookstore that partners with them somehow to get credit for your purchases
