I caught her on a park bench, making out with a *chaos* demon! Have you ever seen a chaos demon? They're all slime and antlers.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Our wings are not tired.

This will be a first for Scully! There won't be anything else in her carrying case. I'll have a harness on her and have a kitty leash, but hopefully they will do the inspection in a privacy room, which would be easier than having her out with a zillion people. A new experience, but I have to think easier than the road trip with about 30 hours in the car.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Chatted with a co-worker this morning who is back from a long weekend spent at Disneyland, Venice Beach, and Hollywood. Neither of us felt we needed to mention riots or unrest or whatever, she had a lovely time.

Laura - A leash will certainly be a help for controlling Scully. My sister flew home with one of my mom's cats and did not realize what she was getting into. Hugger was not happy. Neither was Charlotte, for that matter.

Last time I flew with a cat was, jeez, 40 years ago? Can that be right? Anyway, kitty valium was a very good thing, as I recall.

Our wings are not tired.

It is going to be an experiment, so I hope it works out. I appreciate the advice. I'm going to stop at the pet store on the way home tonight and see if there is a better harness/leash option than the one I have.

Our wings are not tired.

Each previous trip, and she has had a lot of them, she was always silent in the carrier until it got dark outside, then she would cry. That was when I changed to 3 days so we could get into hotels before it got dark. It will be so much easier if flying works for her.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Laura, if you have time on your trip and it's convenient for a pit stop in Cincinnati, I can almost certainly guarantee I'll be around. But I also understand road trip schedules, so if it doesn't work that's cool, too.

I've used kitty valium in the past, but I think it made it harder for the cat to acclimate when we got to the new place. Mayabe feeling woozy made her more skittish? Since that 1 time I flew with a cat, way pre-9/11, I just driven and said "there, there" a lot.

Good luck Laura!

Plumber fixed one thing and sadly confirmed the other issue (water hammer) is a loose pipe somewhere and would require sawing into walls and maybe not finding it. So I will live with the knocking, since he reassured me it shouldn’t mean that it’ll bust open or anything.
