I'm just not going through so much food in a day.
Yeah, it took me a shockingly long time to realize that. The freezer is my friend. I mean, can't do that with everything, but it helps.

I was about to make blueberry scones, and then oh my god my flour* has weevils in it. I am so grossed out. I do have brand-new sealed unopened almond flour, so I'm going to attempt the recipe with that.
*(Gluten-free and therefore expensive. Those weevils need to go freeload someone else's less-expensive regular flour.)
No shit - that stuff is like gold.

I should type up an invoice and leave it in the pantry for the weevils.
The almond flour scone dough is now chilling in the fridge, while copycat Starbuck's egg bites are baking. Once the cookie sheets are cool again, I'll bake the scones and see how they turn out. It seems like a pretty good recipe, so fingers are crossed!
Weevil-free almond flour scones are out of the oven and cooling. Hopefully they don't suck.
I apparently have never had a decent scone; I blame Starbucks for this. Of course, they are not ever going to be on the top of my desired treat list. I hope they are super yummy!
Finding flour weevils is such an unpleasant surprise.
Verdict: weevil-free almond flour scones (with blueberries in them) are tasty! Almond flour does have a distinctive nutty flavor (how?!?), but it ended up working pretty well. These scones seem to be more fragile than ones I've made with gluten-free AP flour, but I'm not daunted by a crumbly scone.
Scola, not sure how I can post while expiring from jealousy for your trip this way, but I guess there are worst last words. They're lucky to see you, too, of course.

erika, that was my reaction, too -- jealous of Scola's trip and jealous of the SFistas who get to spend time with Scola.
I was thinking the same thing -- I'd love to be visiting the SFistas and have it be during Scola time.
Re: Starbuck's copycat egg bites -- the bacon gruyere ones? I have a copycat for that, too, and they are SO GOOD.
Yay scones!
We had dinner with friends tonight at a new and really yum Indian place. That's all, just, you know, yum. And good company.
And a beautiful sunset on the way home.
