You'd think a pet with all the wilderness survival capability of a Guinea pig might be motivated to curry favor with as many potential providers and protectors as possible

My dog loves me a lot but he absolutely would be like “oh no, I have no mother….hello nice stranger will you be my mother?” And they would say yes of course!
