I'm a single undead gal trying to make it in the big city. I have to start somewhere and they're evil here. They don't judge. They've got necro-tempered glass. No burning up. A great medical plan, and who needs dental more than us?

If I lived closer I’d be happy to visit ltc at lunch and provide some angry auntie vibes via glares and pointing to this child.

Reminder I am comprised mostly of anger that is ready to assist any of you and yours.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

UGH sj, I'm so sorry ltc is dealing with this. I think erika has it right - kids that age mimic older sibs and friends of older sibs and they never seem to pick up anyone's good qualities.

Dear distant coworker from whom I need literally one single favor, I have been at this company a very long time and am in fact an expert in the system you are currently lecturing me about. I do not need an explanation of how it works, I just need to know who currently has permission to use it so I can ask them to perform a task that will take roughly thirteen seconds once this conversation is over.

I just found out that in addition to the Renaissance Market being held Saturday, my city is also having the downtown Arts and Eats street fair this weekend, including a film festival with an interesting Irish-themed horror movie Saturday night. Looks like my weekend calendar is full.

They're also having a free outdoor showing of Wicked Friday night with the local TV weather people holding a talk on storm safety and mental health beforehand. I think my mom could really benefit from the latter as she's been worrying herself to a frazzle over storms recently, but anything related to The Wizard of Oz is anathema to her so the likelihood of me getting her to attend is in "when Hell freezes over" territory.

Fun!

Apparently I was so out of it yesterday that I didn't notice (1) the wind blowing our trash can away (downhill far enough that it's gone forever now) or (2) a lost DoorDasher leaving a pizza on our front stoop (DH found it when he got home). I hope whoever ordered that pizza got a refund, and that whoever has our trashcan now...I don't know, throws things away in it I guess,

Ugh, sj. Please give ltc my love, and tell her I'm glaring at that boy from afar.

But I also feel a little sorry for that boy, because what other inappropriate stuff is he learning at home.

After two days of anxiety and crying, I feel slightly better about the Super Important work project I've been toiling at, and no longer feel it's a pass/fail situation. But I'm tired of continually explaining to people above me that the reason the tech writing team hasn't "stepped up" and pushed for important changes is because we were always viewed as a support team, not one that had the authority to drive changes outside of writing content.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

HA HA HA HA wait, are they serious? Jobs I've worked, especially software, we were lucky if we got the fucking UI changes with enough time to update the documentation before release.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Thank you, everyone. Rest assured that I am far more upset about this than ltc is. This is a boy she can’t stand already and his opinion of her means nothing at all. I got a bland response from her usually wonderful teacher that she would pass it along to the people who usually monitor lunch. However since the principal and vice principal are among those people I’m giving it until Monday for someone to get back to me before I contact them directly.

When I explained to my management chain - again - that my feature writers update the release notes a minimum of 5 times a week because PMs didn't think to mention a change was going out, they made horrified noises. Again. Just like every time.

I like my job and my team, but there are times that I want to play IRL whack-a-mole.
