And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Sad news about Val Kilmer. Cory Booker is an inspiration.

I just had to send feedback to a colleague's manager about what an unhelpful jerk this guy is (but, like, phrased all professional and shit) and it was very hard and I think I deserve a nap and a cookie now and also to maybe never have to email anyone ever again.

Yay Wisconsin and yay Cory Booker. Boo having to work again after not working yesterday, for me. Jess you totally deserve a nap and not having to email. But only if I can too.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If there are bodies to be buried, I have a new shovel and a yard in need of gardening.

We might want to wait until after the weekend though. After the thunderstorms/possible tornadoes this evening we're supposed to get up to 10 inches of rain through the end of the week, leading to "generational" flooding. Wouldn't want anyone popping back up unexpectedly!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Shovels are so old-school, requiring a lot of time and a lot of effort. We can do better.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

There's video of like four officers tackling him, while whoever was filming keeps shouting at him, "Stop resisting! Baby, I know it's hard, but you have to stop resisting!"

Dude, you can't jump right to not resisting. People trained for this. The film Rustin has a good depiction of students practicing being harassed by each other.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's clear and cool after several days of random cloudbursts that caught me out more than once.

One of my curved windows isn't closing properly and it's been chilly inside and my thermostat is being non-compliant. Heat me, bitch!

As of yesterday, I administered my first ozempic shot into my belly. It turns out my home scale has been lying to me and I was even more chunk than I thought, so, that's one step in getting my body right because the weight is aggravating my sciatica.

And tomorrow I have a one-on-one pilates class, and next week I have regular classes twice a week.

So those are active steps in building flexibility and getting into a better shape. Something less trapezoidal.

Throw in an eyebrow touchup, a derm appointment (quarterly skin cancer checkup - four biopsies - only one bad, so now I need a Moh's procedure on the back of my hand) and I'm flexing my executive function on self care.

Matilda's having issues at her language school after missing classes due to norovirus and it's making her miserable. She's only got three weeks left before she returns and I would much prefer she enjoyed them instead of grinding it out to the end.

It's really hard when your kid is struggling and there's only so much you can do.

You know how you have a scheduled phone call sometimes and you dread it? I have a call in an hour and I'm really looking forward to it!

I would like a round of happy anticipation for all of my friends.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

In important New York City news, the MTA just switched to using a version of the Vignelli Map.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I had the same thought. His lawyer is going to be so annoyed. You really can't argue that he wasn't resisting if someone who's not even a cop was telling him to stop resisting.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

My life's purpose today is to be the chauffeur for Murderbiscuit. He had a 6-month checkup today (he's fine), but his appointment included a dental cleaning, and for that we drop him off at 8 a.m. and pick him up in the afternoon. I'm slightly demoralized that I'm reduced to The Driver (though I know that he thinks having his own chauffeur is exactly the kind of treatment he deserves).

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I have COVID for the second time.

As in the first instance, my mother brought it with her from the mainland.
