My life's purpose today is to be the chauffeur for Murderbiscuit. He had a 6-month checkup today (he's fine), but his appointment included a dental cleaning, and for that we drop him off at 8 a.m. and pick him up in the afternoon. I'm slightly demoralized that I'm reduced to The Driver (though I know that he thinks having his own chauffeur is exactly the kind of treatment he deserves).
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I have COVID for the second time.
As in the first instance, my mother brought it with her from the mainland.
Sigh
I'm in Otter Lake where it is very cold with snow expected tonight. And rain tomorrow! My sister is so sick she doesn't want me to visit, and my niece is super sick too, but feels she isn't contagious at this point. Jet Blue tricked me with the seat selection! I always get exit row so that I'm not squished next to DH, but the 'exit' row was really a tighter row than a normal row. The people behind us swapped with us so that we could be in the real exit row. That was just so incredibly sweet that they offered to do this. Some people don't suck! I've changed the seats for the return flight so I won't be fooled again.
Yeah, the world is a lot right now.
Yes, it is. And also, erikaj, we are certainly okay. See above, the world is a lot. Responding, and often just posting at all, seems more a struggle than it should be some days. I am however available for alibis or body disposal as needed.
We listened to some of Booker on the way up from the airport. We listened at the time he broke the record, but then MSNBC went to discussion rather than continue live coverage. I don't listen to them often anymore, mostly in the car, but they continue to annoy me. Tickled pink and feeling hopeful with the Wisconsin results.
As of yesterday, I administered my first ozempic shot into my belly.
Let us know how it goes. That is my next step if being back on Keto doesn't do the trick. Doctor really feels Keto should work for me in both weight loss and general health. My joints really don't appreciate the added weight. If I don't see some decent improvement before my visit next month I am going to ask for it.
I'm sorry to hear the Matilda stress. Language is something that really requires in person participation.
Well done, servant of Murderbiscuit!
{{Debet}} I hope it is mild and fleeting.

I echo please let us know how it goes. I've been on Wegovy for almost three months, and am having slow but good results.
I fully advocate for the GLP1 drugs, they’ve been amazing for me. Keep in mind some side effects may be worse at the beginning as your body gets used to it!
Debet I’m so sorry you got covid from your mom twice!! That seems unfair.
My doctor prescribed Zepbound for me today, but of course my insurance doesn't cover it, so who knows what comes next.
He is also going to cover my migraine meds until I can get set up with a neurologist in the system, which is great, because in December their first available appointments were in August.

Welcome to my team! It's a pretty lousy team.

Yes, this
Hmm, Steph. We also both have migraines and make a living by torturing the written word. Should I get a cat and call it Murderbiscuit? Or maybe a dog called SavingCookie.

They started me off at a low dosage and she said at my height/weight they could ramp it up after just two weeks. But I'm starting off at 0.25, going to 0.5, and eventually probably up to 2.0.
So far so good! I mostly have the strategies and recipes down for low-carb eating, but my weakness has been drinking.
It's not like I'm getting hammered every night, but when you're having 3 or 4 cocktails every night you're ingesting a lot of empty calories. It's not even for the buzz, it's sort of habitual, I enjoy the flavor, I'm getting regular social time at bars, and home alone and my mindset is sort of like "Well, you're not driving anywhere so..."
Last night I just had one drink and didn't desire another. And I probably could have skipped that drink without regret.
I've eaten a half mug of oat bran this morning (two tablespoons, plus blueberries and nuts), and just finished a muffin sized frittata from the cafe. That and two small cappuccinos and I feel completely sated and I've been up since 7:30. I'm kind of leaning towards a small salad for dinner.
One of the things the doctor emphasized was doing small portions. Just be conscious of it. Like, I love Bi-Rite's Caesar Salad kit but it's a whole mixing bowl of salad. I could eat half of that. Have one egg instead of two, one bratwurst, etc.
My doctor was glad to hear I'm taking a motility supplement to have daily "Goldilocks poops" (she liked that phrase. But, in essence, not too big, not too small, not too hard, not too soft).
I'm really motivated and eager to couple this with pilates and maintain running a couple times a week.
