The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

:raises hand:

I had to order a copy of my birth certificate so I could replace my passport that was in the purse that was stolen. (It was also needed to get my new work ID, to replace the one that was also in that purse)

Our wings are not tired.

I was a bit panicky a few years ago when I got my real ID since I am on my fifth last name, but it's all good now. I will absolutely renew my passport well in advance of its expiration.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Everybody raise your hand if you know exactly where your passport or birth certificate is!

I am terrible at this so my friend Maria has everything! I have to get a new Social Security card, though maybe sooner rather than later.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

raises hand

I’m at a private university, and my unit still has an active DEIA group. Right now we’re more concerned about NIH funding than anything, but I expect the Eye of Orange Sauron will eventually turn there.

Public university, and we're still having weekly DEI corner presentations at our office's morning all-staff huddle. Every week it's still there feels like something to celebrate.

Though we also now have a hiring freeze, a freeze on almost all travel and training, and restrictions on setting up advance budgets (allowing grant spending while we're waiting for all the formal paperwork to come in). Also, the last email stressed that the university had no plans for furlough periods at this time, which seems ominous because it's the first time I can recall that being even a theoretical option in my ~20 years off-and-on of working there.

In better news, after months of sending out job applications and barely a nibble, Dylan has three screener interviews between now and early next week.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Our DEI task force is still active and engaged. The global head of DEI has had a title change - It’s possible this preceded all of this and I just didn’t notice - but she’s director of culture and experience

Everybody raise your hand if you know exactly where your passport or birth certificate is!

Me because I just had to order a new birth certificate. I also got my passport renewed in November. For reasons.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I have to get a new Social Security card, though maybe sooner rather than later.

I used to keep mine in my wallet (I know you're not supposed to do that), and now I have no idea where it is. Did I throw it out with a previous wallet? That doesn't feel like a thing I would do. But it sure isn't in the current wallet.

Everybody raise your hand if you know exactly where your passport or birth certificate is!

I want to raise my hand, but I feel like I'd be jinxing myself if I did. Like, I'd go to look in the accordion file where I'm...96% sure my birth certificate is, and poof! it would be gone.

For real, my mom kept my birth certificate in my baby album and wouldn't give it to me until after I graduated and insisted she hand it over.

Now I'm gonna go check the accordion file. Which is where I'm...80% sure my (very expired) passport is.

I know where my passport is! My birth certificate I have a copy of but not 100% sure it would be a legal type copy or if I’d need to order a new one with like a seal or something.

I am at the gym. I’ve done 2/3 of my workout. But now I need to do abs and have to psych myself up.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I carry my passport card with me all the time. I am pretty sure my actual passport and birth certificate are in the fireproof safe but I’m not sure where I stashed the safe. Or where the keys to the safe are. That stuff is very safe from both me and fire.
